Riding lesson on the rear wheel of a bicycle. Learning tricks on a bike. Cycling on sidewalks and footpaths

Riding on one wheel is a difficult and extremely dangerous trick… so say those who have never tried it themselves. In fact, it is no more dangerous or more difficult than much of what you already do every day. You walk on two legs... and don't fall? Because one day they learned to keep their balance in an upright position. Balancing on one point of support is also a matter of skill and practice. How to learn to ride rear wheel bike and what you need to know before the first workout? Let's start with a theoretical digression: in the BMX community, this trick is called a "wheelie". Old-school motorcyclists use the term "goat". Where did such a strange word come from: goats, one of the few representatives of the animal kingdom, are able to walk quite deftly on hind legs. At the same time, a goat looks ... well, about the same as a rearing bicycle.

But when artiodactyls “kids”, they do not fall on their backs. Cyclist - maybe. Therefore, the first stage of preparation for training is the selection of protective equipment: a helmet and elbow pads are a must, a motorcycle jacket is optional. The advice to tie a pillow to your back sounds comical, but some initial stage that's exactly what they do. But the pillow will only unbalance your sense of balance, so in practice it is of no use. Step two: find a suitable site. Perfect option - artificial turf stadium, moderately soft and flawlessly smooth. Falling on it is not as dangerous as on bare asphalt. And third: get your bike ready. Lower the seat as far down as possible. Set up a transfer

  • on the pedals - the smallest asterisk
  • on the wheel - the third

And, of course, check the serviceability of the brakes just in case. The final stage of preparation: you need to choose a calm day for skiing. That's all - now directly about how to stand on the back wheel on a bicycle, how to maintain balance. There is an opinion that other people's advice is of little use. That until you fall a couple of times, until the body itself understands how not to do it, you won’t learn anything. But you and I will still try to avoid unnecessary falls: I need you, readers, alive and well.

We accelerate to a speed of 10-15 km / h. Put your finger on the rear brake lever. A deep breath, and-and-and ... simultaneously with the push of the pedal, we slightly clamp the brake, transfer the center of gravity to the rear wheel, and tear the front wheel off the road with our hands. How hard do you have to tear the handlebars to lift the wheel without tipping over? Only practice will show here. Let the first time it only rise slightly and then immediately return back to the ground. Then - higher, longer. It's definitely not worth trying to set a world record right away. When performing the trick, the arms must be kept straight at all times, and the knees slightly apart to the sides for balance. But the main task of balancing is performed by the body: it is by moving the body back that you move the center of gravity of the whole body. Just make sure your back stays vertical to the ground.

Didn't work the first time? To be honest: the first time it turns out only with the unique and ten-year-old children. The younger the cyclist, the less he is afraid of falling - accordingly, he is better in control of the situation and himself. Adds a certain difficulty for adults big weight. But if you confidently stay in the saddle on two wheels, then after a week of training you will stand in all its glory on one. At first, you will only get off the ground a little, then you will be able to drive a meter, and then ten meters, to the envy of passers-by. The main thing is to be careful and not be afraid of anything.

(willy) - this is the name of riding on the rear wheel (and not only a bicycle, but also a motorcycle, but now it’s only about cycling).

So, put the smallest star in front and the middle one in the back (1-3 or 1-4). Willie has to ride with one or two fingers on the rear brake.

How to do a wheelie (ride a wheelie):
Why bet 1-3? Because on 1-4 and above it will be more difficult to catch the balance forward / backward. If it's 1-2 or 1-1 in general, you simply won't be able to accelerate, you'll fall to the side. Choose a straight section of the road for yourself, even a little uphill is better. Roll at low speed, pedaling, lean towards the steering wheel. When the push leg is in the upper position, do it in one quick movement: without getting up from the seat, tear the steering wheel towards you (lift the body) while pressing the pedals (the main force is applied by the push leg, from the top position to the bottom). You need to do this so that the bike does not fly out from under you, but also hard enough so that the front wheel does not immediately fall.

Balance "forward - back":
The main idea with dosing is that if you are tilted backwards, you need to apply the rear brake very smoothly and quite briefly and immediately release it. And so that after pressing the bike not only does not stand on two wheels, but also the front wheel does not drop too much - this is the most difficult moment. Immediately after pressing, which will shift the balance forward, you need to press harder than usual on the pedals. And continue in the same spirit.

Balance "right - left":
To correct the balance, you need to use your knees and steering wheel. With the knees, everything is quite simple - if it tends to the left, put your right knee to the side, and vice versa. With the steering wheel it's about the same, just the opposite - turning the steering wheel to the right shifts the weight to the left. In principle, you will learn with the steering wheel, but there is a small snag with your knees - if you are led too far to the side, you will no longer be able to restore balance by retracting your knee and continuing to pedal. In this case, you need to do a surf (Surf) - everything is the same, but without pedaling. With a constantly exposed knee, the efficiency is much greater than when pedaling.

Main mistakes:
-Don't be afraid to fall back. Try to pull the handlebars harder to "fly forward" the bike and jump off the pedals, landing on two feet;
-do not get up from the seat -when driving a wheelie (for the time being). This is the same as with the knee (you can extend the bike this way if you are strongly tilted forward, and then sit down again).
- do not lean towards the steering wheel when driving a wheelie (!) - your back should be laid back, arms straight. Although it is sometimes useful to ride with slightly bent arms - it is a little easier to catch the balance forward / backward, but the arms also tire faster;
- the brake should be pressed smoothly;
-if you accelerate - push the pedals harder, shift the balance a little back and apply the brake more often.

Deadlines:
About a week will pass before you will not accidentally drive 20 meters (press the brake several times without losing balance). This is for the stubborn, but the lazy ones will never learn - for several days nothing works out and they lose interest. It is better to try very often during the day and everything will work out.

And here is the training video, however, in English:

Sooner or later, every bike lover comes up with the idea that it would be nice to learn how to perform some tricks. The newcomer bravely takes on the task, but after each painful fall, his ardor fades more and more rapidly. In the end, he comes to the conclusion that bike tricks are not for him, and switches to something else. However, learning many of the basic techniques of extreme cycling does not require any supernatural ability. They are based on the simplest principles known to any school physics course, and with the right approach, mastering them will not be difficult.

Rear wheel drive

First you need to learn how to ride on the rear wheel. After mastering this technique, you may wonder how to raise the rear wheel on a bicycle to do.

There are two main options for riding "on the hind legs":

  • Willy(from English name"wheelie"), in which movement on one is carried out by pedaling.
  • Surf. In this case, you have to ride without the participation of the pedals, but only due to the previously gained speed.

Choosing a place to study

For training, you should choose a suitable place, and each of the techniques requires diametrically opposite conditions. Wheely is much easier to do uphill, and for mastering surfing, a platform with a slight smooth slope downhill is suitable. In both cases, the road on which to ride should be flat, long and smooth.

Wheely performance on a bike

Before training, you should take care of protection, because falls are inevitable at the initial stage.

The saddle must be lowered, otherwise it will be difficult to maintain balance. It is necessary to choose such a height that at the moment when the connecting rods are parallel to the road surface, the knees are bent at an angle of about 90 °. Arms should not be bent, they should be straight.

We get on the back wheel. The most common mistakes

It is difficult to determine the optimal speed at which one should learn to ride on the rear wheel, but this is not so important. The faster, the easier it is to keep the balance. Usually the middle sprocket on both wheels is selected.

Having accelerated to 12-15 km / h, you can begin to pull the steering wheel up and lift the front wheel, after transferring the body weight back. This is where the main difference between wheelies and surfers comes into play. When performed by a wheelie, the rider remains seated in the saddle, pedaling sharply during the dash. In order to surf, you need to stand on the pedals. All other moments are the same in both cases. The arms should always be straight. Trying to pull the front wheel towards you with bent arms is one of the main mistakes of beginners. You may be able to ride a few extra meters, but the bike will be uncontrollable.

Another common mistake that beginners make when trying to stand on one wheel is too much or too little force that is applied to the steering wheel when it is pulled out. In the first case, the bike starts to fall back, and you have to apply the brakes. In the second, he does not have time to reach the point of balance and falls down. It is necessary to find something in between, and then access to the rear wheel will not create any problems.

How to keep balance

After the bike has reared up and the balance is caught, the main thing is to learn how to maintain balance. When performing a wheelie, the bike is controlled by moving the center of gravity and changing its speed. If it falls forward, then it is necessary to pedal faster, and the body is tilted back. If it falls back, slow down gently and smoothly, while moving forward. When leaning to the right, the left knee is exposed to the side, and the right one is pressed against the frame. When tilted to the left, the opposite is true. Riding a bike while surfing requires the same actions, but without the participation of pedals.

With the right approach, mastering riding on one wheel of a bicycle will be easy and quick, and you can move on to learning more complex techniques. You just need to practice more often and avoid mistakes, and sooner or later your efforts will bring desired result. Remember that all the pros have experienced failure, and the main thing that distinguishes you from them is the experience gained over long hours. grueling workouts.

    A signal in the form of an arrow, allowing a left turn, also allows a U-turn, if it is not prohibited by traffic signs.

    The signal in the form of a green arrow (arrows) in the additional (additional) section (s), switched on together with a green traffic light, informs the driver that he has an advantage in the direction (directions) of movement indicated by the arrow (arrows) over vehicles moving from other directions;

    f) a red signal, including a flashing one, or two red flashing signals prohibit movement.

    The signal in the form of a green arrow (arrows) in the additional (additional) section (sections) together with a yellow or red traffic light signal informs the driver that movement is allowed in the indicated direction, provided that vehicles moving from other directions are allowed to pass unhindered.

    The green arrow on the plate, installed at the level of the red traffic light with a vertical arrangement of signals, allows movement in the indicated direction with the red traffic light on from the rightmost lane (or the leftmost lane on one-way roads), subject to the provision of an advantage in traffic to its other participants moving from other directions to a traffic light signal allowing movement;

    16 Crossings

    16.9. While driving in the direction of the arrow switched on in the additional section at the same time as the yellow or red traffic light, the driver must give way to vehicles moving from other directions.

    While driving in the direction of the green arrow on the table set at the level of the red traffic light with a vertical arrangement of signals, the driver must take the extreme right (left) lane and give way to vehicles and pedestrians moving from other directions.

Another article is devoted to bike tricks or tricks on MTB (MountainBike). Who knows, they can still be useful to someone, for example, in order to surprise the surrounding people, and at the same time to communicate, there, to get to know each other. And someone, purely for themselves, is pleased to jump, there, to have some fun.

Bicycle tricks suitable where there are few walking people and driving cars, for example, some kind of small area. It should also be noted that in order to perform tricks, you should have a high cycling experience, at least one year, when you are already holding on to the bike firmly enough. It's like in GTA where the more you ride your bike, the less you fall off it. For example, when performing tricks for at least three years, I have never fallen, except for isolated cases with minor injuries. Don't believe? That's your business. I also recommend pumping up a little, because for many tricks you will need physical strength. I also note that all these tricks, which are written below, have been tried / studied by me personally, so I will not lie. I do not like this business, even if the truth is not passed on to the joy of a person. Better a bitter truth than a sweet lie. But let's not talk about philosophy for now... After all, we are talking about tricks on a bicycle :) So, let's get started!

stairs

Training: The bike is desirable to be mountain or semi-mountain. Be sure (!) With a rear brake on the handle and that it works in full. The rims on the wheels must be double. In short, the bike must be strong and in good condition, otherwise it may bend on your first descent. And be sure to fix front shock absorber if it works for you.

Action: To begin with, choose small stairs, for example, 3-4 steps. Drive up to the stairs standing up, slightly bending your legs for cushioning, because. you will be shaken hard as you descend. Feet should be parallel to each other on the pedals. The speed should be low: 5 km / h will be enough. And be sure (!) make sure that there are no people below. Once you're on the ladder itself, tip your body weight back and hold the rear brake so the descent isn't too fast. If you come down without problems, try going down the same ladder a few more times. If everything is ok, look for a staircase with five steps and do the same method with it. Then try a ladder with six steps, and so on. It is advisable to practice more on small stairs. I do not advise you to go immediately to the high stairs, because if there is any mistake, it will not seem enough. Stairs do not forgive mistakes :) It is better to ride small stairs a hundred times than to fall on a large one once.

"No Hands"

Training: You can choose any bike, but always with large wheels and not very old to be. Ideally, it is better to choose a road bike, it is just the same with large wheels. Smooth road - also by the way! And if the bike is with speeds, we set almost top speed, for example, if there are 3 speeds on the left, and 7 on the right, then we leave it as it is on the left, and put 6 or 5 on the right.

Action: Riding without the participation of hands is done at speed, and the higher the speed, the less likely it is to fall. Minimum - 10 km / h. Drive and try to let go of the steering wheel, but do not remove your hands far. And just a little, if you start to evade to the side, immediately grab back behind the wheel. In this case, as in any other attempt to perform a trick, the main thing is practice. It will be a little scary at first, but then you get used to it. And all random side turns can be adjusted with your knees.

Willy (Wheelie)

Willie is when you pull out the front wheel on a bike, like you get up on a goat, only at the same time you also ride. In other words, Willie is wheelie riding.

Training: To do this, you must be physically fit. The bike must be with speeds. We set the speed to medium: for example, on the left if there are 3 of them, we put on 2, and on the right if there are 7 of them, we put on 3 or 4. It is important here that it is convenient to pull out Willie. The saddle should be lowered, but not to the very bottom. Although ... If you want to look like a grasshopper, so be it!))) The road is better to be perfectly flat, preferably a little uphill. I also recommend a working rear brake, because. he will save you if you suddenly start to fall back.

Action: Willie needs to learn how to balance in order to ride. Pull the steering wheel sharply and press your foot into the pedal. These two steps must be done at the same time. It didn't work out - no problem. Try again, and again, until you can keep your balance. It is desirable to catch the balance right away, because. if you catch him in the acceleration, Willy will be short-lived. And if you are tilted to the side, control your knees. Let's say it leans to the left - pull your knee to the right. And by the way, while riding, the arms should be extended and the butt too, but be sure to remain seated on the saddle. And if you feel that every time the situation worsens, no problem. This is normal, it happens to everyone. And that means you're just tired. Rest for an hour or two, then practice some more. In general, it usually takes a month and a half to master Willy, but someone is lucky faster. In this case, the main thing is desire and perseverance.

Advice: In order not to fall back, you should master the skill of jumping off the pedals to the ground when pulling out the wheel. Happened? Wonderful! Now you can master Willy without fear of falling on your back. Only the saddle for this should be raised for the time being, otherwise you may not have time to jump off your feet and fall on your back ...

The Most Common Mistakes When Teaching Willie to Ride

1. Fear... This requires confidence. And the more it is, the easier it will be to master the ride on the rear wheel. And keeping your finger on the brake will give you even more confidence in this matter.

2. As less as possible sudden movements. Wheely should be performed smoothly and easily.

3. Don't bend your arms: Willy's ride should only be done with straight arms.

4. A dirt or street bike is best suited for Willie practice, while on an MTB you can learn this indefinitely ...

I also recommend choosing a place where there are fewer people if you are driving on the sidewalk, as their indignation at the factor of driving on the pedestrian zone will make you resent, as this interferes with Willy's competent execution. No fear and no worries. And the more self-confidence, the easier it will be to learn to ride on the rear wheel.

Bunny Hop

Bunny hop or jump on/over an obstacle is desirable not only for stunt lovers. It is also useful purely for driving, for example, when you are in a hurry somewhere and you need to jump onto the curb at speed.

Training: The strength of a bike matters, as does the strength of its wheels. The weight of the bike is desirable small, no more than 12 kg. Ideally, the bike should be stunt, for example, for street or dirt. However, Bannik on the mountain is no exception, if it is not very heavy.

Action: Bunny hop is done at a speed of 10-20 km/h. When approaching an obstacle, get up and raise the front wheel. And the higher you raise it, the better. Pull the wheel out, and as soon as it is over the curb, push the handlebars forward sharply with your hands, preferably 45 degrees up, and at the same time bend your legs to allow the rear wheel to rise too. Did not work out? No problem! The more you practice, the better the trick will turn out. It is better to practice through a thread or choose some small border so that it is not so critical if something goes wrong.

Good luck to you!

For anyone who is interested in learning tricks on video, I recommend watching this movie, which teaches in detail the basic tricks on Mountain Bike.

The first ten minutes are devoted to somewhat dark plots. You can jump over them and enjoy learning what you came here for :)
