Sports journalism universities. “Sports journalism is already a brand. What is a healthy lifestyle for you?

Andrey Romanov about his student years and career as a television and radio journalist.

On Saturday, October 31, a commentator on the Eurosport TV channel, author of his own column on Eurosport.ru, host of the Sport FM radio station, an employee of the Match TV TV channel, a graduate of the Department of Philology and Sports Journalism, Andrei Romanov, held a master class for IEST students " Sports radio – new opportunities.”

Shortly before the start of the event, we managed to talk with Andrey Romanov.

In the interview, Andrey recalled his student years, gave advice to aspiring sports journalists, speculated about the future of his profession in Russia, and also shared his own opinion about the incident involving Dmitry Derunts and the conflict between Tina Kandelaki and Vasily Utkin.

– At what point in your life did you decide that you wanted to become a sports journalist?

– Initially, I was going to enter the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics in my hometown of Vladimir. It’s rare that young people can immediately decide and understand what they need from life. What will bring them real pleasure. A thrill, if you like! I had complete order with physics at school. Although the teacher was not able to abstract herself from the stereotype “if he is an athlete, then he must be a cudgel” until graduation. At the local university, the physics and mathematics department was considered one of the most prestigious, and many people went there.

Well, why am I worse than others?! He came and, with full responsibility, told his dad: “I will be a nuclear physicist” (laughs). At first my father did not attach any importance to my words, and then said: “Listen, wouldn’t it be better for you to go into journalism?” (for this I am eternally grateful to him). So I signed up for courses for representatives of the oldest profession (laughs). There I had my first experience of creating a journalistic text on sports theme. We wrote material based on photography. I chose a frame that captured our domestic biathletes - Olga Pyleva (Medvedtseva) and Svetlana Ishmuratova during the relay race at one of the Olympic Games. Then I blew up the audience. The teacher, who always looked askance at me and wondered what the hell this mediocrity was doing here, praised me and advised me to move further in this direction.

– And then you decided to enroll in the Department of Philology and Sports Journalism?

– At that time, I had no idea that there was a separate training profile for sports journalists. Apparently it was destined for me to end up in this specialty. I don’t regret it in any way. One of the girls who attended courses with me in Vladimir once told me that there is a certain Russian State University of Physical Culture (then the university was called that), there is a specialty in sports journalism.

I arrived in Moscow and found out what documents were needed for admission. And when they told me that for medalists (I had a silver medal) they only needed to take physical education, I crossed myself. In 2004, having received an A sports training and having passed creative competitions, I entered the first year, the department of philology and sports journalism. At first, studying was hard and sometimes even scary. I still had little idea of where I had ended up and what I wanted from my chosen profession. There was definitely a lack of theoretical basis. The equipment needed to be seriously improved. I began to open up only in my senior years. Moreover, he revealed himself not so much to others as to himself. It felt like I had woken up from some long sleep. He opened his eyes.

– Have you already practiced somewhere as a student?

– In my third year, I started working at Radio Sport (now Sport FM). Started as an editor. I recorded opinions and comments from experts over the phone for news and broadcast presenters. Then he worked as a correspondent. It was a time of discoveries, trips and business trips. Then Radio Sport assembled an amazing team of professionals with whom it was a pleasure to work. Alexander Tkachev, editor-in-chief (now executive director of KHL-TV) has always helped active youth. He knew that I was a fan of cross-country skiing and offered to host my program. Tkachev is one of those people who played a big role in my life. By the way, he also studied at the Russian State University of Physical Culture, in the hockey department. My first program was called “Ski Arsenal”. In it I talked about ski racing and biathlon. At first the broadcasts were recorded, then broadcast live. Maybe at first my project looked crude, but I loved it like my own child. This was my child, born in pain (smiles).

– In general, should a student have an internship while studying at the university?

- Certainly. When I was a student, our university published a newspaper called “On the Start.” We were skeptical about working there, we were small and stupid. We didn't realize that we were being given a great chance to try our hand at business. Hone your skills. And just have fun.

– Is a higher education diploma from the Department of Philology of Sports Journalism valued in some special way when you come to apply for a job with potential employers?

– In 2009, when the guys from our class graduated from university and got jobs, employers received a diploma special attention did not pay attention, as well as the presence higher education. Everything is different now. RGUFKSMiT is already a brand. Graduates of the Department of Philology and Sports Journalism work in the country's leading media, and not only sports ones. The work that the teaching staff has done and is still doing, in particular Irina Yurievna Lyulevich, bears fruit. Moreover, our main advantage over other sports journalists is that we are sports people ourselves. We know this entire kitchen from the inside.

– Recommend reference books that every person who decides to connect their destiny with the profession of a sports journalist should read.

– Depends on where the person plans to work. I can talk about books that should be read primarily by a television and radio journalist. If we are talking about television and radio, an aspiring reporter needs to start with “ Breathing exercises Strelnikova." Plus - any books on speech techniques. This will help you grow into an outstanding specialist. Otherwise, you just need to read a lot. If you master the list of references that Irina Yuryevna Lyulevich offers, this base will be enough to write high-quality texts. Your speech will become beautiful, filled with rare epithets, which will distinguish you from other representatives of the profession.

– Do they teach voice techniques at “Sport FM”?

– We don’t have any special general seminars, but there are presenters who work on linear air and have good experience, ready to help and give advice.

In general, working with a tutor never hurts. After several lessons, you can feel the difference in pronunciation, accentuation and other speaker gadgets. Correct and beautiful speech is the basis thanks to which the audience will remember you. It is the voice of a commentator or radio presenter that is perceived first of all. First they listen to the voice, and only then to the content of what is said.

– Compare sports journalism from the period when you were just taking your first steps in the profession and now.

– General trends in a healthy lifestyle make our profession more relevant than ever. By the way, we also participate in shaping public opinion among an audience that is increasingly eager to play sports. Our brother is now valued quite highly, especially if the combat unit is of very good quality.

– Don’t you think that sports media have become increasingly “jaundice”? In particular, the electronic resource Eurosport.ru?

– Yes, recently Eurosport.ru has acquired a certain yellowish tint. But the portal’s management is focused on the audience. Alas, the modern reader in Russia and neighboring countries (of a certain age) has precisely such interests. Goals, points, seconds won’t surprise anyone now. Most people are much more interested in reading about Luke Shaw's orientation than how many goals he scored during the season. The editor-in-chief of Eurosport.ru and the team he has gathered around him are incredibly flexible guys to the trends of the times. They quickly grasp any trend. That is why, despite a small staff and limited financial capabilities, Eurosport.ru continues to this day to be among the top Russian sports electronic resources.

- Knowledge of English - required condition for working on an electronic resourceEurosport.ru? And how was it with him when you started working there?

- Absolutely. Without it, it is difficult to grow not only in online journalism, but also in other media. A foreign language expands the capabilities of any unit of journalism, from editor to presenter and commentator.

– On your personal page Euоsport.ru there is this inscription: “I don’t think about it. I'm silent. And I don’t forget to puff out my cheeks.” What does it mean?

– Actually, the story is quite funny. Two years ago, the editor-in-chief of Eurosport.ru asked all bloggers and authors of the portal to come up with a phrase that would give the reader an idea about us, the authors. Even now I don’t remember why I chose that particular wording. In any case, there is more humor in that phrase. “Puffing up your cheeks” is something from acting. “I’m silent” - probably because I prefer to listen to people more. At least I understand that our profession is a tireless hammering of the tongue.

– I would like to know about one more expression you said. In your profile on the Sports websiteFM” opposite “The most valuable advice received in life” is written: “Do not create excess potential.” Explain?

– A somewhat esoteric thing, considering that I myself am an esotericist in life. This helps me to live and move forward to some extent. Excess potential is great desire, the meaning that you attach to a particular event or object in your life. If you really want something and do nothing at the same time, equilibrium forces begin to act. And then you get a punch on the nose. It’s good if it’s painless, but more often it’s the opposite.

– October 25 during the break football match between the Moscow clubs Dynamo and Spartak, when your colleague at Sport FM", and in that match, Dmitry Derunets, who works for the Dynamo club television, hit a Spartak fan who ran onto the field. How would you assess the action of the Dynamo managers who decided to fire Derunets, and do you agree with the proposal of some sports officials to permanently exclude Dmitry from working in football?

– If we talk about Dynamo, it seems to me that the club had no other choice or solution. Dima had to be fired to avoid resonance. In addition, the incident cast a shadow on the name of the great team. And the club was fined a decent amount.

As for Vitaly Mutko’s words about the future fate of Derunets... It seems to me that the issue cannot be resolved so categorically. Dima should be given a second chance, of course. He is a professional with a capital P, a person who knows a lot not only in leading sports. Dima is able to speak in any language sports theme and is well versed in any sport. Nowadays there are very few such sports journalists.

– I will work for Match TV on the morning news. I don’t know yet whether it’s in the frame or not, but the contract has already been signed.

– Vasily Utkin stated that working under the leadership of Tina Kandelaki is humiliating, the subsequent mutual exchange of remarks, and Vasily’s further agreement to work under the leadership of Tina, is this an example of a good PR campaign or did the conflict really take place?

– Judging by Tina Kandelaki’s latest interview, there really was a conflict. I cannot say whether this was deliberate PR on the part of Vasily Utkin and why he behaved this way. This is his right and choice. Everyone decides for themselves. I don't know how I would behave in this situation.

– “Match TV”, as you know, was launched on the personal initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with a sociological survey, which showed that 73% of the population is indifferent to football. Based on the conversations, based on the work that you have already seen, based on the feeling – will Match TV be able to change the situation and instill in Russians an interest in football and sports in general?

- I think yes. According to the plans voiced by Tina Kandelaki, this project will surpass the previous ones. Sport in our country is an extremely specific thing and our people are very peculiar. People can look big sport events, to be imbued with the patriotic spirit, but when there are no major events, life is measured, periodically disturbed by financial crises, people simply have no time for sports. Tina’s task is to constantly interest the viewer and I think that she will succeed.

– Andrey Romanov – first of all, who is this? TV commentator, radio presenter, or maybe a sports journalist?

- Definitely not a writing journalist. I can’t say that I’m not interested in this, it’s just not my thing. My favorite activity is commentating on the Eurosport channel, I especially like the format of commentating at the stadium as a showman and presenter.

– After two and a half years in our country the Championship will be held world football 2018. Is it possible to see you at the tournament as a football commentator?

– If you want, then of course everything is possible. But I’m not a fan or fan of football, and in order to work as a football commentator efficiently, competently and to give out that nerve and emotion that the viewer wants to see and hear, you need to be a fan of this sport. I'm a fan of winter sports, that's where I get that drive and buzz. I understand and understand football, I can comment on a match on the radio, which I do, but I do not get aesthetic pleasure or satisfaction from it. At the home World Cup 2018, I would work as a correspondent, but not as a commentator.

April 19 will be remembered by SKA St. Petersburg and its fans for the rest of their lives. After all, it was on this day that St. Petersburg residents won the Gagarin Cup for the first time. It was not an easy path for them.

SKA finished the regular championship in 2nd place, behind CSKA Moscow, which at that time was destroying all the clubs on its way, and ahead of the St. Petersburg team by as many as 16 points.

The first series of playoff matches fell on Torpedo, which SKA easily beat with a score of 4:1. Having won the first game, the red-blues immediately received resistance from Torpedo, but only once. The subsequent matches were for the army team.

Next on the way stood Dynamo Moscow. The white-blues were also unable to repel the St. Petersburg team, although they fought with all their might. IN decisive match The Muscovites lacked only 1 goal to continue the fight for the Gagarin Cup.

How Zenit avoided defeat in the match with Spartak

The leader of the Russian championship, Zenit, managed to achieve a draw in the central match of the 26th round against Spartak. Brazilian Hulk hit Artem Rebrov's goal in the 90th minute. The weekly “Football” talks about how this game will be remembered by the fans, referee Mikhail Vilkov and Alexey Miller with Leonid Fedun.

Two wins in a row latest games with Mordovia and Rubin, the status of the match and the level of the opponent attracted Spartak fans to the stadium to support their team. A full house was expected at the Otkritie Arena. And so it happened. The fans voted with their feet, and it was impossible to buy an extra ticket before the start of the match. People were searched carefully and for a long time, the queues at the checkpoints moved slowly - not all fans managed to get into the stands on time.

Before the start of the match, Spartak fans showed a colorful performance that spread throughout almost the entire stadium. Fans of the St. Petersburg team did not prepare big performances, but hung a banner dedicated to the memory of the victims of the tragic circumstances that happened exactly a year ago in Odessa.

Closer to the 10th minute, the stadium was filled to capacity, and only small bald spots were visible on the Zenit fan stand, but this did not stop the blue-white-blue fans from doing their best to support their team. In the sectors of both teams during the first half, one could see a pyrotechnic show, the smoke from which hung in the bowl of the stadium for a long time. First, the guests “lit up”, and then the red and whites got down to business.

Unlike many other matches involving Spartak, fans of the Moscow team did not wait for the first dangerous moment at Lodygin’s goal to start their “Forward, Spartak!”, but from the beginning of the meeting they drove the team forward. The team coaches also felt the intensity of passions - by the 10th minute both Murat Yakin and Andre Villas-Boas were on the sideline and actively gesturing, telling their players what positions to take. Zenit fans became more active a little later, when Danny could have scored the first goal in the 8th minute, but Rebrov helped the team out. Then it might have seemed to many that there would be many more chances at the Spartak goal, but throughout the entire match the red and white defense played reliably, misfiring only at the end of the match.

The entire first half of the game took place in at a relaxed pace, and the stadium reacted to what was happening in a similar way. The situation changed dramatically at the beginning of the second forty-five minutes, when Spartak scored after a corner kick. The stadium literally exploded and the fans could already dream of a much-needed victory. Moreover, there was every reason for this; Yakin’s team played better than their opponent, who seemed not to be on the field. The defeat had no effect on Zenit's position in standings– Krasnodar’s gap from the blue-white-blues is quite noticeable, so the guests were in no hurry to recoup. Spartak played on counterattacks, and Yuri Lodygin tried to pretend to be Manuel Neuer, playing closer to the center of the field, and sometimes in the opposing half.

Non-children's playground

There is nothing more pleasant than watching a laughing child. There is nothing more terrifying than watching a child laugh when you realize that he is in mortal danger. Oh, no. Eat. It’s even worse when the parent of this child stands nearby, smiles and himself directs the child towards danger.

I have a small plastic skateboard, which is popularly called a fish. I'm not good at skating, but I have a friend Kirill who does it professionally. He does various tricks, participates in skateboarding competitions, in a word, sometimes I’m just scared to look at the tricks that he does on this board with wheels.

What is a healthy lifestyle for you?

Many people think that healthy image life (HLS) is just a refusal bad habits, such as smoking and alcohol, but this is just one of the points.

Let's figure it out in order.

A healthy lifestyle begins, of course, with proper nutrition, because our well-being and appearance depend on this. Starting to eat healthy is quite simple. To begin with, it is enough to give up flour, fried, fatty, sweet foods and be sure to drink 1.5-2 liters of water per day. You should start your day with a glass of cool water with lemon juice, and after half an hour start breakfast. The first meal should be the most satisfying and consist of complex carbohydrates. This will give you strength and energy throughout the day, and will also satisfy your hunger for 3-4 hours. The most ideal option is oatmeal with fruit or nuts.

Lunch should consist of 50/50 carbohydrates and proteins. Lean meat/fish with buckwheat or durum pasta are perfect for lunch. You can supplement it with fiber, which is found in vegetables and helps our intestines digest food.

Dinner is 100% protein. Cottage cheese with a small amount of dried fruit or an omelet is the best solution. Also, don't forget about snacks. They must be mandatory in order to speed up the metabolism. Here you can eat fruit/muesli bar/egg/sugar-free yogurt. Don’t be afraid or neglect the healthy fats found in fish, nuts, avocados and peanut butter – the most favorite and delicious product of healthy lifestyle lovers. The most healthy fats- This is the Omega-3 group.

By adhering to this scheme, you will improve your diet and metabolism, and also lose unwanted pounds, which is very important for girls.

STREET WORKOUT

What it is?

Street workout is a type of physical education on the street, namely on sports grounds. The emphasis of such training is on physical exercise using your own weight.

Young people increasingly began to choose workout, since you can come to the site at any time of the day, it’s free, unlike the gym, here you can learn to do exercises that are simply impossible to do in the gym.

The essence of the work of a Sports Commentator is the creation of a sports report, a description of what is happening directly at the scene of the event. At the same time, the Sports Commentator must be able to supplement his story with other information. The problem of language and style is particularly acute in the work of a Sports Commentator. The overly emotional language of fans is not suitable for a Sports Commentator. At the same time, the abuse of specific sports jargon is also unacceptable. Another immutable law of the Sports Commentator is to never demonstrate your own likes and dislikes. Sports commentator knowledge of professional subtleties and constant improvement of one's skills are required. Regular listening to reports, including your own, is necessary part work of a sports commentator.
