Experienced fishermen construct homemade products for winter fishing, which are often much cheaper and more effective than store-bought products. Fishing stores have a wide selection of different products, but many tackles have flaws that are difficult to correct. For this reason, fishermen make winter fishing rods at home.

  1. The most common method is to cut a tablespoon from the handle. To improve catchability, it is recommended to bend the handle slightly. Using a drill you need to make holes for the hooks. If you cut a small piece of metal from the handle, then after processing it will look like bleak, which pikes love.
  2. From teaspoons you can make an almost complete copy of the Devon spoon. This allows you to install the bait more firmly so that it does not get lost while fishing.
  3. An unusual bimetallic spoon can be made from several metals, such as copper and steel. First you need to take 2 similar pieces of metal, in which holes for rivets are already made. The parts need to be carefully riveted and processed. By stamping, the future lure must be given the desired shape.

The rotating type is made of 2 parts - a petal and a base. When an angler plays with the tackle, the petal rotates near the base, luring fish. Manufacturing process:

  1. The petal pinwheel is made from round or oval-shaped pieces of metal. The ends of the parts need to be carefully processed, given an elongated shape and slightly twisted. The hook is secured from below; a sinker must be installed above it so that the spoon rotates freely.
  2. There are turntables with turbines different forms and types. They are made with 2, 6 and 8 blades that rotate around the base. Petals can be made from any soft material.

Balance baits are a bit like live fish. The balancer is made from a 6-7 cm pipe, to the ends of which hooks are attached. To make a rewinder sensitive and balanced, you need to cast a special mold from plaster, install hooks in it and fill the mold with molten iron. After the material has hardened, you need to treat the surface and paint the bait.

Advantages of homemade floats

Knowing the habits of the fish, the characteristics of the reservoir and the season, you can make a suitable float for winter fishing; a homemade one will surpass any expensive float that can be found in special stores. In addition, you don’t mind losing floats that you made yourself, since most often they are made from cheap parts.

Homemade tackle

There are several types of homemade winter fishing rods with a reel, but the most common are:

  1. Filly.
  2. Rocker.

The filly fishing rod is popular among fishermen because:

  1. It consists of a small number of parts, it is a simple and strong fishing rod for ice fishing.
  2. It is easy to transport and prepare for fishing.
  3. It is convenient to install such a fishing rod on the edge of the hole, and even if the prey can drag it under water, it will not be possible to carry it to the bottom due to the high buoyancy of the foam.
  4. When hooking, it is convenient to hold the tackle even with warm gloves.

The only drawback is the inconvenience of reeling in the fishing rod, since it does not have a reel.

This gear is easy to make yourself:

  1. High-quality foam is used for the handle of the fishing rod.
  2. You need to make a longitudinal hole on the handle into which the whip will be inserted. This is easy to do with a hot nail.
  3. After cleaning the workpiece, you need to start making the legs of the fishing rod. Sewing spools cut in half without thread are suitable for this purpose.

Rocker. Winter fishing mostly brings fishermen small, peaceful fish. Only with the help of a rocker can you catch large prey.

Fishermen use a wire type of gear to catch bream. To produce the structure you need:

  1. A piece of wire about 20 cm long.
  2. Several templates.

Manufacturing process:

  1. You need to draw a drawing of the future equipment on a wooden board with a marker. In places of bending, you need to hammer in nails 3 mm thick.
  2. Using the layout, you need to make a structure, providing loops along the edges and in the center of the equipment. Having removed the finished product, all that remains is to remove excess material and shape it with your hands.
  3. To equip a finished homemade product for winter fishing with your own hooks, you need to stretch the fishing line through 3 loops. There should be pieces of fishing line left on the outer loops; tie hook No. 5 to each.

Greetings to all ice fishing lovers who are ready to quit their household chores even in the most severe frosts and go to the pond to catch a couple of perches. Today I want to suggest making your own pocket fishing rod for ice fishing. This tackle will always be at your fingertips, it will not take up much space and is easy to make. I suggest you find required material and make your own “miracle fishing rod” for winter fishing.

To make a winter fishing rod from a medical syringe, you will need the following:
scissors;
screwdriver;
stationery knife;
medical syringe;
plastic bottle;
bolt and self-tapping screw;
cambrics (white and red);
suitable parts from Lego.

The process of making a homemade pocket fishing rod for ice fishing:
1. It is necessary to remove the piston from the medical syringe and use a utility knife to make a groove that will serve as a reel on which the fishing line is wound.
2. We insert the piston back and use a hot nail to make a hole in the syringe at the level of the groove, so that it is convenient for the line to pass through.

3. Take a plastic part from a Lego set, as shown in the photo, and cut off the excess part. Then we screw in a self-tapping screw and a bolt and get a handle for rotating the piston, with which we will wind and release the fishing line. You can use your imagination and make a handle from another material, for example, copper wire.

4. Proceeding to the next step, we also take suitable parts from the designer, which will serve as the top of the fishing rod, and in turn we will attach a bite alarm to it. Using instant glue, attach the tip to the medical syringe and wait until the gluing is completely ready.

5. Now let’s make a bite alarm from a plastic bottle. To do this, use scissors to cut out a thin plastic strip and make fastener blanks from cambrics. We use red cambrics to attach the alarm to the top and white cambrics through which the scaffolding will be passed.

6. All that remains is to wrap it around the piston fishing line, pass it through the hole in the syringe body and the working casing on the bite alarm. Attach a hook or winter jig and the homemade tackle is ready for use.

We are waiting for the attack winter period and cold weather, and when the reservoirs are covered strong ice, we're going fishing. We take a comfortable and neat fishing rod in our hand, put a bloodworm on the hook, and after a while striped bass are floundering in the snow. This is how you can make a wonderful winter fishing rod on your own, which will bring many happy fishing moments in your life. I wish you all good luck and big catches! Don't be lazy and make your own fishing lures and tackle!

Since you have come to this article on the site, it means that you have decided not to buy a fishing rod for winter fishing, but to make it yourself. Well, good idea! Making tackle with your own hands is very exciting and, by the way, profitable! Someone doesn’t understand why make a winter fishing rod yourself, if you can just go to a fishing store and choose it or even order it through an online store, thank God the choice allows. But they do not take into account one very important detail. Some people making fishing gear doing it yourself brings no less pleasure than fishing itself. What a pleasure it is to catch fish using tackle that was made by your own hands!

In general, we will not be scattered on those to whom such needlework is alien, but will focus on those who really need it. Fortunately, making a winter fishing rod with your own hands is quite easy, and there are plenty of ways to make this tackle, so you can always choose exactly the option that suits you.

DIY winter fishing rod, method No. 1

A very simple way to make a winter fishing rod with your own hands, for which we don’t need any special elements or spare parts. You can practically make a winter fishing rod from scrap materials at home. But, of course, you need to be able to work a little with your hands. And I think since you came to this page, then DIY crafts are a common thing for you. So you should be able to handle it easily.

To make a fishing rod we will need:

  • very dense foam (cylindrical, you can use a large float or other foam product);
  • a thin metal plate (a tin can, you can use an old telescopic fishing rod, cutting a thin strip or something else from its knee);
  • nichrome wire;
  • threads;
  • needle;
  • lighter;
  • X-ray film (image);
  • file;
  • Super glue;
  • pliers;
  • sandpaper.

The process of making a winter fishing rod:

  1. Now you need to make a whip. We make it from an old telescopic fishing rod.
  2. From this piece of thin metal, using metal scissors, you need to cut a strip that will serve as a whip. The width of the strip is about 4 mm and the length is 25-30 cm. After cutting, sand it with sandpaper and, using the same sandpaper, sharpen one edge of the whip so that you can easily pierce the foam.
  3. We pierce the foam blank with our whip. The edge with which you pierce will serve as the front end, so push the whip all the way through the entire foam until the back edge of the whip is completely inserted into it.
  4. Now you need to make a tulip - the front throughput ring for the fishing line. We make it from nichrome wire, or another one that you have in stock. It's very easy to do. Twist the wire so that there is a small hole left through which the fishing line will pass. To make the ring smoother, you can initially wrap it around some object of small diameter; we wrap it around a gel pen ampoule. It should look something like the one in the photo, but without the rubber gasket.
  5. Then we grease the edge of the whip with super glue, place our tulip on top and wrap it with ordinary thread.
  6. The next thing we do is make a nod. It would be great if you have an old, unnecessary X-ray lying around somewhere. It's perfect as a nod. That's what we'll do with it. You need to cut a thin strip from the x-ray image, at the end of which there will be a roundness with a diameter larger than the width of the strip. Let's make a hole in it for the fishing line.
  7. Now, using a heated needle, as mentioned above, we burn a hole in the nod from the X-ray image, in the center of the circle left at the edge, for passing the fishing line. After the procedure, use fine sandpaper to smooth out the unevenness after the burn.
  8. The next task is to put two cambrics on the whip. The cambrics should fit very tightly onto the whip. They can be made from a coil of wire or a nipple. Distribute the cambrics evenly over the whip and insert our nod through them. The nod will be adjustable and can be shortened or lengthened depending on the fishing conditions.
  9. After the nod is passed through the cambrics on top of the whip, we push the nod through the second cambric so that it protrudes by about 5 mm. We bend the edge of the nod behind the cambric upwards. The nod should be glued to the cambric. But first it is better to clean and degrease both surfaces.
  10. We wind the fishing line around the foam holder along the groove, pass it through the whip ring and the nod hole. We attach the bait - a do-it-yourself winter fishing rod with an adjustable nod is ready for use!!!

There is nothing difficult to make, and the fishing rod turns out great! Next, I suggest watching a video of making a winter fishing rod with your own hands.

DIY winter fishing rod video

DIY winter balalaika fishing rod video

Another simple one quick way make a winter fishing rod with your own hands at home. This time I suggest you just watch the video, which very clearly shows with slides how to make a fishing rod for winter fishing. The manufacturing process is very simple and does not require any special knowledge of needlework.

DIY winter fishing rod

Great fishing rod for winter sparkle with your own hands. Very easy to make and requires a minimum of materials. True, you will have to buy some at a fishing store - a reel and 2 tulips. Everything else can be found at home, in the garage or in the yard.

So, to make a winter fishing rod for trolling we will need:

  • an old car wiper;
  • 3 wine corks;
  • a tube from a modern mop or brush;
  • coil;
  • insulating tape;
  • 2 tulips;
  • soldering iron, acid, tin.

Manufacturing process:

  1. We take a tube from a mop or brush, which should be of a diameter suitable for wine bottle caps to fit into it.

  2. We take a windshield wiper from a car. In it, under the rubber band, there are springs - metal rods. There are two of them, we need one for the fishing rod. We pull it out, it will serve as a whip for us.

  3. We prepare a reel purchased in a store.

  4. We prepare tulips and corks.

  5. Now from the mop handle we have prepared, we need to cut a tube with a length equal to the length of three corks from a bottle of wine, maybe a little longer.

  6. Then, in the plugs, we drill through holes in the center, the diameter is slightly smaller than the diameter of our future whip. We insert the whip into the hole of the cork and insert the cork itself into the center of our tube. We pass the next cork through the whip and also insert it into the mop tube. The third plug can be inserted from the back of the rod. We get this blank - a semi-finished winter fishing rod.

  7. Next, we take our 2 tulips and put them on the whip. One in the middle, the other on the edge and solder them with a soldering iron. We tape the coil to the holder with electrical tape.

  8. We get an excellent fishing rod for winter trolling.

These are the easy ways you can make winter fishing rods with your own hands - very cheap and economical. I hope you enjoyed this article. You can also read a very interesting article on how to do

Making winter fishing rods with your own hands is easy. In addition to economic benefits, it is the realization of creative potential and testing of new ideas. All you need is patience and accuracy.

The decision to make a winter fishing rod yourself arises for several reasons:

  1. Economic. Often cheap products turn out to be of poor quality, and products good quality- dear.
  2. Creative. Testing a new material for making a product, improving the design, coming up with a new design is the realization of creative potential.
  3. Increased skill. Many fishermen like to make their own tackle. It is better to start with simple products that do not require the use of special tools.
  4. Lack of fishing store.
  5. Lack of required model in the shop.

For whatever reasons the angler decides to make a homemade product, there are several points to consider:

  1. Even making a simple product requires time, patience and painstaking care.
  2. It is better to remake a poorly made product than to experience difficulties in using it or to be disappointed in the design.
  3. You should not rush and save time during production. If the fisherman has a shortage of time, it is better to use a purchased product.

Winter fishing rods are not too difficult to make. There are three types of active fishing in winter:

  • fishing with bloodworms and jigs, without a reel;
  • float fishing;
  • flashing

Each type of winter fishing requires its own equipment.

Fishing with bloodworms and jigs

The most common purchased fishing rod options are: balalaika And filly. Options for independent products - imitation of the balalaika and filly, as well as numerous versions of known and unknown handmade designs.

Winter fishing rod with a handle - line storage made of cork or foam

The fishing rod consists of the following elements:

  1. Pen- forest storage made of cork or polystyrene foam.

    Made from champagne cork:

    • in the cork, a channel is cut out with a knife for storing fishing line at a distance of 1/2 cm from the edge, ½ cm deep and wide;
    • On the other side of the plug, a transverse hole is drilled for the whip. The diameter of the hole should be 10% less than the maximum diameter of the whip.
  2. Expert opinion

    Knipovich Nikolai Mikhailovich

    Important! When using rigid foam instead of cork, the foam is first processed with a knife and sandpaper to give it a cylinder shape. Further processing is identical to operations with cork.

  3. Whip.

    The length of the whip is 30-50 cm. It must be flexible and durable.

    Use:

    • the knee of an old fishing rod or spinning rod, cut to length if necessary;
    • plastic knitting needle;
    • processed juniper branch;
    • Rings should be installed on the whip every 10-15 cm to eliminate sagging line. You can use ready-made commercial fishing rod rings or rings from an old fishing rod.

    You can make rings yourself from ferrous wire 0.6-1 mm:

    • wind the wire onto any cylindrical object of suitable diameter two turns;
    • bend the ends of the wire perpendicular to the plane of the ring in opposite directions;
    • cut off the excess wire with metal scissors, leaving 1-2 cm at both ends;
    • screw the rings to the whip with thin, harsh threads, turn to turn;
    • coat the joints with waterproof glue.
  4. Nod.

    The nod should provide an attractive game of the bait.

    Available materials for making a nod:

    • PETT container for drinks;
    • polyethylene canister;
    • old fluorographic photograph;
    • clock spring.

    Manufacturing process:

    1. A conical strip is cut with the following parameters: length 10-14 cm, narrow part 2-3 mm, wide part 4-5 mm.
    2. Expert opinion

      Knipovich Nikolai Mikhailovich

      Zoologist, hydrobiologist. I am interested in fishing at a professional level.

      Important! To make a double-cone nod, arcuate sectors are cut out in the wide part symmetrically on both sides so that the width of the nod is reduced by 20%.

    3. The easiest way to make rings for passing fishing line (2-3 pieces) is this way:
    • attach the rod of a ballpoint pen or a piece of wire of the required diameter to the nod blank in the right place;
    • put a cambric on top from a heat-shrinkable tube of suitable diameter (cambric length 2-6 mm);
    • carefully heat the cambric. The cambric will tightly cover the nod and the rod on top of the nod;
    • pull out the rod.
  5. To pass the line through, instead of cambric, it is better to make a hole at the end of the nod at a distance of 3-5 mm from the edge.
  6. Attaching the nod to the whip. The nod is attached to the whip with the wide end.
  • A silicone tube 3-4 cm long is tightly placed on the end of the whip. A flattened section of the rod from a ballpoint pen, 3-4 cm long, is glued to the tube below to pass the fishing line. The tube is lubricated with Vaseline or silicone ointment. The nod is placed from below to the rod;
  • A silicone tube of larger diameter is tightly placed on top.

The nod can be moved back and forth between the tubes, adjusting the length of the nod and the stiffness of the guard.

Attention! It is difficult to cut a watch spring. You have to grind it by hand or using a drill and a grinding wheel.

Making a winter fishing rod with a cork or foam handle takes one hour and costs 0 rubles; it can easily be used in sport fishing.

How to catch

  1. Screw 20 m of 0.08-0.12 mm fishing line onto the cork gutter.
  2. Pass the line through the rings on the whip.
  3. Pass the fishing line into the flattened tube (ballpoint pen) on the nod.
  4. Pass the line through the rings on the nod.
  5. Tie a jig (or a hook with a nozzle).
  6. Gradually removing the fishing line from the cork fishing line, lower the jig to the very bottom of the reservoir.
  7. Hit the jig on the bottom of the reservoir a couple of times.
  8. Gradually wind the fishing line onto the cork fishing line and play with bait, waiting for a bite.
  9. If there is a bite, hook the fish with a rod.
  10. Put the rod aside and move the line with your hands to pull the fish onto the ice.
  11. Remove the fish from the hook.
  12. Wind the fishing line around the cork.

Fishing rod type "filly" with a wooden handle

"Filly" Can be used for jig fishing and float fishing.

  1. We saw off a 14-16 cm piece from the wooden handle of an old, unnecessary mop. This will be the handle of the fishing rod.
  2. Line storage device.
    • wooden cylinders 2 pcs. 3-5 cm high with a hole drilled in the center of the circle for screws (you can use the wooden handle of a children's net). 1 cm from the edge of the cylinder, use a knife to make a 2 cm wide depression for storing fishing line;
    • standard wooden thread spool with a sawn-off edge (the height of the spool without one edge is 3.5 cm) 2 pcs.

    Screw 2 coils or 2 cylinders along the edges of the handle.

  3. Expert opinion

    Important! As an economical option, you can simply drive two nails of suitable diameter along the edges of the handle so that the nails, together with the head, protrude from the handle by 3-5 cm.

  4. Drill a hole in the handle in the center of the circle with a depth of 6–8 cm and a diameter equal to the maximum diameter of the whip.
  5. Fill the hole for the whip with epoxy resin. Insert a 21-28 cm whip (the elbow from an old telescopic rod). The whip must be strong and have rings for threading the fishing line. Remove excess resin with a rag.
  6. To prevent getting wet and icy wooden parts they can be covered with stain and varnished, or painted with façade paint for wood.
  7. To use the filly for jig fishing, a nod is attached to the whip in the same way as in step 4 from the “Nod” section.

With an open reel for trolling, jig fishing, float fishing

In a real balalaika, the inertial reel with a stopper is recessed into the round handle of the fishing rod. Making such a coil yourself at home is problematic.

You can glue a used line spool to the handle of your fishing rod, but then you will have to wind the line onto the spool by hand.

You can use a purchased inertial coil, but the manufacturing process will be much more complicated - you will have to cut a round hole in a round handle, and come up with a reliable way to attach the coil inside the handle hole.

Much It’s easier to use an inexpensive commercial inertial coil(from 30 rubles) and attach it to the handle of the fishing rod with insulation or drill two holes in the reel holder and secure it with screws on the handle.

With wooden handle and open inertia reel

  1. A 20-22 cm long section is sawn off from the wooden handle of an old, unnecessary mop.
  2. Cork chips are mixed with waterproof glue and gradually, layer by layer, applied to the handle at the place where the hand grips (10-12 cm). You can create a convenient handle shape according to the angler’s request.
  3. After the glue has dried, sand the handle with fine sandpaper (you can coat the handle with yacht varnish).
  4. In the center of the wooden handle, on the side where the whip is attached, a longitudinal hole is drilled to a depth of 6-8 cm with a diameter equal to the diameter of the thick end of the whip.
  5. The resulting hole is gradually filled with epoxy resin.
  6. Insert a whip from an unnecessary telescopic fishing rod 40-70 cm long. Carefully center the whip in place.
  7. Carefully remove the protruding resin.
  8. After the resin has hardened, sand the place where the whip is fixed in the handle with fine sandpaper to remove irregularities and resin build-ups.
  9. A purchased inertial reel with a brake is screwed to the handle.

Expert opinion

Knipovich Nikolai Mikhailovich

Zoologist, hydrobiologist. I am interested in fishing at a professional level.

Attention! Exist inertial coils with and without a holder with a hole in the center for attaching the reel with a screw. It is better to purchase a cheaper option with a central hole. To install such a reel on the handle, you will need one screw of a certain length for secure fastening.

Such a fishing rod can be used with a nod for jig fishing. It can also be used for float fishing and trolling. In these cases the nod is not used.

Pistol

Winter fishing rod with pistol grip used for trolling in currents and still water. Because when attacking predatory fish The structure is subjected to heavy loads; its handle can be made of hard material - wood.

  1. The required pistol-shaped handle shape is cut from a block of wood.
  2. The final rough shape of the handle and line holder is planed with a knife.
  3. The forest storage facility is located on top of the pistol and has a random appearance. The main thing is that the fishing line is convenient to wind onto the fishing line.
  4. The final shape is achieved by sanding the surface with fine sandpaper.
  5. The handle is treated with stain and covered with deck varnish.
  6. A hole is drilled in the horizontal arm of the handle for the whip (the whip must be strong and flexible. The tip of a spinning rod with a test of 10–30 is suitable).
  7. Waterproof glue is applied to the whip at the junction with the handle. The whip is inserted into the hole.

When catching a predator with a fishing rod of this design, the hand experiences less stress when jerking a heavy fish. Often winter fishing rods for trolling are equipped with a hand loop made of strong rope to prevent the pike from snatching the light rod. For a pistol, there is no need for a rope loop.

Materials suitable for winter fishing rod handles

Light material is suitable for jig and float fishing, since it is intended to catch peaceful fish and the handle will not experience strong jerking loads, but the fisherman’s hands may “fall off” if he has to constantly pull a heavy fishing rod for several hours in a row in the cold.

  • cork;
  • dense foam;
  • foamed PVC.

These materials are not suitable for glittering. You need a durable material that will not collapse under heavy load.

Such material should have low thermal conductivity so that your hands do not freeze. It is desirable that the weight of the material is not too large.

Naturally, this is a tree.

There is another option for making handles - epoxy resin.

Cured epoxy resin:

  • slightly inferior in strength to wood;
  • lighter than wood;
  • thermal conductivity is lower than that of wood.

At the same time, you can make any complex and fancy shape for pouring pens. It can be used for all types of winter fishing.
Pouring handles of any shapes from epoxy resin:

  1. In a semi-hardened gypsum solution, you can gradually create any complex impression using various objects. You can immediately immerse up to half the whip in a semi-hardened gypsum solution.
  2. Epoxy resin is poured into the hardened gypsum solution.
  3. Another portion of gypsum solution is poured into another container. An impression is made into the semi-hardened gypsum solution in this container for the second half of the product - a mirror image of the first half.
  4. Postavushki and girders are not fishing rods. There are anglers who, as a matter of principle, do not use devices for passive fishing. However, even such fishermen, during a good bite, sometimes want to use an automatic mechanical means to take a break. But a fishing rod without a special device will not hook the fish itself.

    Simple design for automatic cutting shown in the drawing and consists of:

    1. Rectangular platform 10x20 cm for attaching a winter fishing rod of any shape. A simple option is to fasten the fishing rod handle to the platform with plastic ties and clamps.
    2. On the back side of the platform in the middle, nails are driven in and bent to form brackets for the pipe and for the springs.
    3. A frame permanently fixed to the base with a top crossbar made of a tube.
    4. Two springs with rings.

    Operating principle:

    The fishing rod is placed on the platform and secured with ties. The springs are put on the hooks in rings. It is important that the platform is horizontal. When a bite occurs, the platform tilts, the ring of the first spring flies off the hook, the edge of the platform rises sharply along with the fishing rod, and the fish is caught.

    Zoologist, hydrobiologist. Graduated from Leningrad State University named after Zhdanov, Faculty of Biology and Soil Sciences. I am interested in fishing at a professional level.

    In fishing stores of our time, the range of fishing gear for ice fishing is huge. However, some fishermen practice making winter fishing rods various types with your own hands.

    A homemade winter fishing rod is made in the following cases:

    • No the desired model in the shop;
    • no near a store, typical for rural areas;
    • the habit of doing everything with your own hands at home;
    • saving money.

    The manufacture of most gear for winter fishing does not require the use of any rare materials; everything you need is in the arsenal of any homemade craftsman.

    In our article we will look at how to make three types of fishing rods:

    • for mormyshing;
    • for glitter;
    • I'll deliver.

    Mothless

    The first homemade winter fishing rod, the manufacture of which we want to consider, is a jig. This is the lightest gear in terms of weight and the selection of materials for it is simple. To make a rewinder, we will need:

    • champagne cork or thick foam;
    • a plastic umbrella needle or other similar rod;
    • set of cambrics;
    • lavsan or x-ray;
    • glue and colorful markers.

    In the description of the process of making fishing rods, we will mention nods in passing, since this is a separate big topic, and it requires writing a separate article. In relation to the reelless fishing rod, we will say that for this fishing rod it is easiest to cut it out of lavsan or x-ray film, and assemble the fasteners from cambrics of different diameters.

    A do-it-yourself winter fishing rod for jig fishing is made in the following sequence:

    1. We carve the handle of a fishing rod from cork or foam plastic. To do this, we chamfer one side of the cylinder to create something like a skirt.
    2. Drill a hole in the cork.
    3. Glue or tightly insert the whip into it.
    4. We mount a nod.
    5. We reel in the fishing line and...

    A note regarding the attachment of the whip to the handle. There are two options at the request of the fisherman:

    • at the end of the plug;
    • on the side of the cylinder.

    In the second case, it is possible to reset the turns of the fishing line, which helps when fishing for a large trophy.

    For attachment jig

    In the bait version of jig fishing, a homemade fishing rod of a more voluminous design is used. Its handle is cut out of foam, cork or wood in the shape of a bracket; this shape is called a “filly” in the fishing community. A groove is cut into it for winding fishing line, obtaining a kind of reel. A hole for the whip is drilled in the front end.

    You can buy a whip for a winter fishing rod of this type in a store, or use the knees from broken fishing rods, or even just cut a branch from a tree, as they did in the old days. The nod is also made from scrap materials:

    • metal spring;
    • Mylar or X-ray film;
    • from a plastic bottle.

    The nod holder is made of cambrics or high-voltage automotive cable.

    Universal supply

    We called this type of fishing rod universal because it can be used in many ways. Based on this design, you can assemble gear for such types of winter fishing as:

    • float;
    • for flow;
    • for light glitter;
    • live bait fishing for perch;
    • set on rotan or pike perch.

    To make something universal, you can use different materials, but we will consider one of the options, mentioning the possibilities for expanding the range.

    The material for the handle of such a fishing rod can be a simple plastic tube with a diameter of 15 millimeters. The manufacturing process in this case can be described in the following steps:

    1. Cut a piece of 15 centimeters from the tube.
    2. At the front end we attach a coil or two wire staples as a reel.
    3. We insulate the handle by gluing cork, foam plastic or synthetic insulation onto it with the non-foil side facing out.
    4. We plug the ends of the tube with plugs, and first put a weight in the fishing rod for the current to ensure resistance to capsizing.
    5. In the plug of the front part of the tube we drill a hole for the whip.
    6. We insert the whip, its options are described in the previous part of the article.
    7. We make legs, they can be made from wire, a piece of plastic, and so on.
    8. If necessary, we equip the fishing rod with a nod or guide rings.

    Fishing rod for trolling

    This type of winter fishing rod is similar in manufacturing method to a universal fishing rod, but its manufacture requires a more careful approach due to the greater responsibility of the gear when using bait in fishing for large fish. Therefore, we will describe the process in more detail, revealing some of the nuances.

    Let's start by making the handle. It can be made from the same plastic tube, umbrella handle, garden sprayer or something similar.

    It is important for us to make her comfortable and warm.

    Let's use a cork for this. The process of insulating the handle looks like this:

    1. Chop the cork into small pieces with a rasp or grater.
    2. We coat the tube along the length of the future handle with glue, and skip the space for the coil.
    3. Roll it over the crumbs.
    4. We wait until it dries completely and then spread and roll again.
    5. Once the required thickness of the handle has been achieved, we process it first with a rasp, then with a file and sandpaper of different grain sizes.

    After creating the handle, attach the reel. To do this, we mount a reel seat made of two clamps to the tube, between which we clamp the legs. We wrap insulating tape on top to prevent contact of hands with cold metal.

    It is impossible to make a coil with your own hands at home, so you need to purchase one of the options in the store:

    • plastic inertia;
    • “meat grinder” with a small spool;
    • small cartoonist.

    We seal the ends of our handle with plugs, in the front we make a mounting hole for the whip, where we insert it, its length should be 60-70 centimeters.

    Now you need to attach the passage rings to the whip; there must be at least three of them. We mount the tulip on the tip, and distribute the rest along the length of the form. For fastening we use glue, thread and fishing varnish.

    We finish making a fishing rod by strengthening the nod, if required; many fishermen do without this element of the tackle.

    Self-cutter

    Another type of winter fishing rod is a self-hooking rod. This is a kind of postavushka, designed to respond to the smallest stretches of fish, which for some reason may not be noticed by the fisherman.

    There are several designs of self-cutting gear; we will describe one of them in detail.

    Making such equipment for winter fishing is not difficult. It is enough to have a piece of wood, plywood or chipboard for the base, several screws and two types of wire: thin - for making a spring and thick for levers.

    1. First, we cut out the base in the form of a rectangle with sides 10 by 25 centimeters.
    2. We draw a design diagram on it.
    3. We screw on one end of the bracket to secure the lever.
    4. We wind a thin wire onto a thick wire, turn after turn, to create a spring.
    5. We bend the thick wire into a lever of the desired shape.
    6. We attach the lever with the spring to the base.
    7. We bend the locking bracket from thick wire.
    8. We strengthen it in the front part of the base.
    9. At the end of the locking bracket we strengthen the elastic band, fixing it for clarity with multi-colored electrical tape.
    10. We mount the coil and the chandelier pendant to the base.
    11. We wind the fishing line and pass it under the suspension bracket and along the top of the locking bracket.

    The actuation tension is adjusted by mutual adjustment of the spring-loaded lever and the locking bracket.

    When the fish is pulled by the hook, the line puts pressure on the locking bracket, causing it to move forward and release the hooking lever.
