Tamansky Bay is not distinguished by either its vast size or great depths, and it is not one of the most remarkable resorts in Southern Russia. However, this does not make it less interesting and worthy of attention than others. On the contrary, it is of great interest both for scientists of various kinds and for tourists who do not gravitate towards gigantomania, but pay attention to other, more important features than size and depth dimensions.

On the coast of this vast harbor, washing by, significant archaeological sites are found, some of the oldest in the Black Sea region. There are very beautiful, attractive places here, and Mother Nature has created an amazing ecosystem. And the bay and its surroundings are in many ways unique and inimitable - this is what needs to be taken into account first of all.

Where is Taman Bay on the map?

We are talking about the most western harbor of the Krasnodar Territory, which is limited from the north-west, and from the south-west -, or rather, the Kerch Bridge. On its banks there are the following settlements: Taman, Primorsky, Sennaya, Yubileiny, Volna Revolyutsii, Garkusha and Ilyich. In the northeast, another mini-bay stands out - Dinskoy.

Geography, origin and nature

The bay, small in size, especially compared to its neighbors, crashes into. Its almost regular oval water area stretches from west to east with a slight shift to the north, a distance of 16 km; in the northeastern part it forms another tiny bay - Dinskoy, which has already been mentioned.

Its width is virtually the same along its entire length and is 8 km. Its depth is also small, which corresponds to the predominantly low-lying terrain of the peninsula of the same name; in the deepest part it does not exceed 5 m. The total area of the Taman Bay, including Dinskaya, is 38.4 thousand square meters. km.

The greatest interest in geographical terms of the Taman Bay is that it is still unclear what kind of sea it represents, which has been the subject of heated debate in the scientific community for decades. This question is really not easy and it is unlikely that it will ever be resolved, because the harbor is located where the Black and Azov Seas merge together through the Kerch Strait.

Thus, it is simply impossible to attribute it to one or the other, and the affiliation of the bay in written sources varies depending on the situation or the personal preferences of the author. So he is in limbo, the only one of his kind who does not have a residence permit.

Origin

He is considered relatively young. 2500 years BC, the area of the current bay was covered by low-lying, mostly swampy land, and in the western and southwestern parts there were flood plains. In the eastern, southeastern and northeastern areas there were areas dominated by low mountain formations composed of unstable, soft rocks - sandstone and porous shell rock.

Around the 1st-2nd millennium BC. e. as a result of a sharp change in climatic conditions and tectonic activity, a gradual subsidence of the land began, which continues to this day, but not at the same pace as 3000 years ago. In 1984, it was recorded that the bottom of the bay was sinking from 2 to 5 mm per year.

Natural features

The Taman Bay is replete with small lagoons with a high concentration of salt and lakes as salty as Markitanskoye and Tuzla. Scattered across the water area are shell-sand islands - Lisiy, Krupinina, Dzendzik (the largest of them), spits, bay bars and even a mud volcano called Blevako and located between the Chushka spit and the island of Dzendzik, closer to the shore.

And the bottom of the bay is unique and inimitable due to the fact that the entire length is covered with grass, but not sea grass, but the most common grass that grows on land. No one really knows how she managed to adapt to the bottom surface of the reservoir - this causes surprise and dismay among those visiting a natural attraction for the first time.

You can get to Sennoy by car from the city of Temryuk, the regional center, like this:

Note to tourists

  • Address: Taman Peninsula, Krasnodar region, Russia.
  • GPS coordinates: 45.290306, 36.767883.

So it turns out that the attractiveness of this or that place is not really in its size. And the small Taman Bay is the best proof of this. Where else can you find so much in such a limited space? The whole point is that you can’t even see it in a photo, let alone touch it, feel it, feel it, and at least roll around. In conclusion, we offer a video about the attraction described above, enjoy watching!

The rich fauna of the Black and Azov Seas will delight fishing lovers. For fishermen, the very nature of the peninsula has created maximum conditions. You can sit with a fishing rod on the banks of the Kuban or Erika rivers, go fishing in the estuaries, on the ponds of hunting bases. A good catch will not be long in coming. In the fishing cage, catfish, pike perch, ram, carp, carp, pike or bream will be killed with their tails. It has become traditional to hold a spinning championship in the Temryuk region. It takes place annually in April-May and attracts a huge number of fishermen - amateurs and professionals. One of the common fisheries in these parts are gobies - which just beg to be hooked. In addition, local residents offer an inexpensive, wide selection of commercial fish: pelingas, pike perch, trout and even sturgeon. Fish can be caught both in estuaries and eriks, and in the sea. You can do it yourself. Or maybe on boats and motorboats? together with the huntsman of the hunting farm.. Don’t forget your gear at home. Although you can agree to rent a boat and everything for fishing. Local residents claim that in August, at a certain time, when the water becomes very warm, a large number of fish swim straight to the shore and you can literally catch them with your hands.
· Anglers should be equipped with corn, shrimp, pearl barley feeders, donks, and various other “things” that no serious fishing can do without.

PIKE

The Azov estuaries, or simply floodplains, in the western part of the Krasnodar Territory are considered an excellent place for fishing. The “mistress” of the estuaries is pike, which is found in abundance in these shallow lakes and is excellently caught in warm weather using spinning rods and artificial baits. And since instead of solid shores, the labyrinths of estuaries are separated by kilometer-long thickets of reeds, you can only fish “smoothly” with the help of a boat.

My name is Yulia, our whole family are avid fishermen, I will tell you about my experience of sea fishing in Kuchugury on the Sea of Azov. Mostly people go to this resort to relax by the sea, not knowing that here they can engage in exciting sea fishing. We vacationed here in the summer, the emphasis of our vacation was specifically on fishing, and what can I tell you - the fishing here is simply wonderful.

For some reason, for many, fishing is the privilege of men. We go fishing with the whole family - my husband, two teenage sons and I, the only woman in our family.

Of course, I don’t touch on the technical side of organizing our hikes: equipment, a tent, a car—my husband prepares and assembles everything. We catch and clean the catch together, but cooking over the fire is my responsibility.

We plan our summer vacation taking into account our common hobby. Last summer the choice fell on the Sea of Azov. We were traveling for 3 weeks, so we decided to book an inexpensive hotel, and from there we could make radial forays into nature. I liked the village of Kuchugury - reasonable housing prices, civilized environment, good cuisine, lots of vitamins and luxurious beaches; keeping the boys healthy is always one of the important points of our vacation.

We set off in our car, loading the trunk full of everything we needed. Therefore, we chose the hotel closer to the outskirts of the village with free and safe parking. Arriving on the east coast of the village, we were surprised by the individual charm of the courtyard with a hint of the French guest houses of Provence, even the lavender inflorescences elegantly greet guests with a graceful bow. In general, we liked everything. But we are talking about fishing, so everything is in order.

Features of sea fishing in Kuchugury

First of all, we found out on the spot about the peculiarities of fishing in Kuchugury. They fish from the shore in three places - on Cape Pekla, on the first and second stones, and finally, the farthest place from the village is the Orlovskie stones, about 5 km from Kuchugur. We chose Pekla, on the cape there is another local exotic - a mud volcano, in which swimming is completely free. On both sides of the path leading to the sea from the mud bath, gobies are caught, and if you are lucky, pelengas, a tasty and boneless fish, a type of mullet, comes to the shore.

From the end of July to mid-August, in the period of 4-8 o'clock in the morning, the bite is special - the fish, due to the heat and lack of oxygen, move en masse to the shallow waters of the coastal zone, even without much need to jump over the rocks. By the way, it is caught with an ordinary fishing rod and reel or spinning rod, but we prepared the bait from boiled chicken meat, but local fishermen suggested that it is better to fish with the Nereis sea worm, which looks like a centipede. You can dig up this animal near the shore where there is clay soil and not sand with shells. However, we did not dig, but bought it at a local market.

We were lucky with our catch - we stocked up on the bulls for a long time: they were salted, then soaked and dried, wrapped in gauze. We managed to catch the pelengas twice – what a celebration it was. The hotel has a grill and a gazebo, so we fried the first fish carcass on the grill, pouring a mixture of olive oil and lemon juice. The second pelengas was baked in foil over coals with onions, carrots and tomatoes.

In addition to fishing from the shore, in Kuchugury you can also negotiate with local fishermen and go to sea on a rented boat. If you are lucky, in addition to Azov herring, red mullet and mullet, you will also come across rare species - mullet or garfish.

Fishing on the estuaries of Taman

There are many estuaries around Kuchugur, and they are all fishy. Our catches were dominated by pike and perch, we liked crucian carp fishing on paid ponds - we caught crucian carp mixed with thick fish, small ones, but often with ordinary bread bait.

On the Akhtanizovsky estuary, in addition to pike and perch, we caught rudd and ram on corn, and in the evening the eldest son was lucky - a small zander was caught on the bait. And then we were advised to go to the river - this is a channel connecting the estuary with the sea, they say, this is where pike perch roam in countless numbers, but we were not able to catch it there, but sabrefish caught almost a bucket each.

We also remember the overnight trip to Taman Bay. The catch for the whole family turned out to be significant.

We were especially pleased with the carp and carp, and the bite was equally good both in the morning and in the evening. There are a lot of pike, crucian carp and perch, but they cannot compare with carp in taste. On the way, we managed to buy sour cream from a farmer, so dinner turned out to be almost homemade, although it was cooked over a fire.

Fish dishes at the Lavender-Azov restaurant

Of course, fish cooked in nature is delicious in a special way, but how can I compete with the talent of preparing fish dishes from the restaurant chef of our hotel!

I was captivated by the Azov bouillabaisse - a fish soup served with garlic croutons, preferably made from white baguette bread, and rouille sauce. I don’t know, I haven’t been to Marseille and haven’t tried French bouillabaisse, but I’m sure it tastes better in Kuchugury because it’s made from a fish broth that contains all the small fish from the morning’s catch from the fishing crews. The fish broth is boiled for 5-6 hours until the fish is completely boiled and a thick and aromatic soup base is obtained.

By the way, the hotel restaurant has a very relevant concept for any holiday-goer - locavore, when all products - local - are purchased only within a radius of 50-100 km, that is, there is no doubt about their shelf life, because it, as such, is virtually absent.

My men liked the Azov grilled fish - a fish gourmet's dream, a large dish with 5-6 species - gobies, mullet, mullet and garfish, in general, what the sea brought to the fishermen in the net in the morning. An incredibly tasty accent on the restaurant menu is mullet fillet in parchment, already sweet, seasoned with vegetables and spices.

shrimp on the table of a hotel restaurant

Our boys happily devoured toasts with Azov anchovies - anchovies, tried crabs from the estuaries and Azov shrimp, which my husband and I thought were an incredible delicacy with beer.

We didn’t regret for a second that we went on vacation to Kuchugury! Although we don’t particularly like to travel to the same place twice, we are sitting in a snow-covered house and thinking - shouldn’t we repeat last year’s vacation again on the Azov coast in Kuchugury?
