Spinning for beginners: how to choose a spinning rod, spinning fishing technique for a beginner. How to fish with a spinning rod for a beginner and catch fish All about fishing for beginners with a spinning rod

The design of a spinning rod is simple down to the basics, but at the same time quite effective in practical use. Few tackles in their monotonous structure can play the role of a tool for completely different types fishing.

Having assembled a spinning rod, it can be used with equal success as a tool for catching predatory fish and as a tackle for bottom fishing, a match rod and a regular fly rod. In this diversity, all that remains is to re-equip the spinning rod with equipment with attachments for the next type of fish being caught, but the main elements of the rod remain unchanged, universally fulfilling its obligations.

Any spinning tackle consists of the same set of accessories that give the rod the ability for practical use. Spinning rod equipment looks like in the following way: the basis is the rod itself, consisting of a blank with guide rings for fishing line and a handle with a mount for mounting a reel, the reel itself, the type of which may vary depending on the preferences of the angler and fishing conditions.

The presented elements form the spinning tackle. The reel is additionally equipped with a cord, and the equipment itself is directly attached to the cord. The equipment depends on the type of fishing and can consist of weights, floats, leashes with hooks, feeders, artificial baits and a complex of all these components. As the article progresses, we will look at the equipment in the section for each component, discuss its role in the overall set of spinning equipment, and discuss how all the equipment is prepared for fishing.

Rod

The spinning rod is assembled on its base, which is called a fishing rod. Today, manufacturers make spinning tackle from the latest ultra-light materials of artificial origin, characterized by flexibility and elasticity combined with high strength.

Most often, the blank is made from fiberglass, fiberglass, carbon fiber materials and combinations of materials called composite. Depending on the type of material, the form forms a mass.

Important! A fiberglass rod is much heavier than carbon fiber rod.

The rod can be made in two versions: a plug-type version and a telescopic assembly version. The handle is made of a metal rod, finished on its surface with natural cork or dense nylon. The choice of these types of handle finishes is characterized by the high ergonomic qualities of these materials.

The tactile sensations of the fisherman with such material do not cause even the slightest inconvenience, which does not distract the catch at all. A reel seat with a threaded connection principle for attaching an accessory is built into the handle of the fishing rod. Metal line holder rings with composite or stainless steel inserts, polished to the highest degree, are glued into the tackle form. This condition necessary to reduce the friction force arising from movement along the guide rings of the main cord.

Important! According to their performance characteristics, fishing rods are divided according to their length, action or blank rigidity, test or power for loading tackle with bait or other type of equipment.

Spinning fishermen, based on the characteristics of the stick, choose a certain type of fishing rod for the type of fishing.

Coil

The next fundamental element that makes up a spinning rod is the reel. By their types fishing reels are divided into multiplier and inertial. Devices are made from plastic and metal components. More acceptable options for fishing are reels with a metal casing.

All presented types of mechanism have in their design features unification in terms of the leg, which can be interfaced with a reel seat made on any tackle. General characteristics reels are their volume or line capacity and the presence of a braking device or clutch. Otherwise, inertia-free and multiplier reels differ in the type of gear ratio, characterized by the number of rotations of the mechanism handle to the number of rotations of the rotor.

In relation to the fishing rod, the reel is selected according to its overall dimensions and required characteristics for the conditions and type of fishing. Often, the manufacturer marks the product directly on its body, which is quite convenient when choosing an option for installation on spinning tackle. Correct rigging spinning involves installing an inertia-free type of device. It is the inertia-free bait that is suitable for most types and conditions of fishing.

Braided cord

Correctly equipping a spinning rod without a braided cord is currently an almost impossible task. This type of cord has firmly entered into fishing and especially spinning use due to its low stretch coefficient, which helps to effectively manipulate the bait and receive a clear bite signal. Braided cords are classified according to their diameter and the number of veins twisted into a common cord. The greater the number of veins in the cord, the stronger and more reliable it is.

The diameter of the fence varies from 0.06 to 0.5 mm. In addition, wickerwork has a very rich range of colors, including soft muted tones and bright, provocative colors. The diameter of the cord is selected based on the capabilities of the reel, the capacity of the spool and the possible size of the caught trophy. Braids with a thicker diameter are used for trolling fishing; the thinnest representatives of braided cords are the desired option for ultra-light type of hunting.

Unlike monofilament lines, braided lines are distinguished, as mentioned above, by low elongation, greater strength with smaller diameters and high abrasion resistance. Equipping a spinning rod with a braided cord is the most rational and convenient option for the fisherman.

Leashes

It is imperative to equip a spinning rod, especially for pike fishing, with a leash that will prevent the angler from losing the bait. Spinning equipment includes leashes made of tungsten and titanium materials, and their fluorocarbon variations are also successfully used. Steel leashes are more rigid in relation to the above examples and are not entirely suitable for guiding baits. The leashes, regardless of their material, are equipped with a swivel and a clasp, to make it possible to equip the rig with the desired bait without resorting to tying and subsequent re-tying when changing knots.

Important! The length of the leash is selected based on the size of the fish expected in the catch. The larger the predator, the longer the leash should be.

Lures

The variety of artificial baits in today's realities indicates the high popularity of spinning fishing. I will list the main types of baits most commonly used in this type of fishing hobby. Some of the most famous baits are all kinds. Wobbler is an imitation of a live fish or small animal, often a mouse or frog, which is equipped with one or more hooks. By animating the bait in the water, the fisherman provokes the predator to attack.

Silicone baits in various options the executions are repeated in their forms by fry, worms, insects, water beetles and larvae. Silicone is additionally equipped with a hook and sinker and only then is it introduced into the equipment used when installing the spinning rod.

Spaced rigs, which include Carolina and Texas rigs, have earned great love from spinning anglers. This direction equipment involves mounting the bait and its loading separately from each other and sometimes at a considerable distance. Progressive equipment in the spinning movement is the use of. By selecting a float according to its characteristics, weight and ability to stay on the surface or submerge in water, the fisherman is able to throw small bait with tackle over a significant distance and carry out the retrieve in the desired water horizon.

Spinning for beginners– an interesting topic, useful for anyone who decides to start catching a predator. Not everyone who is addicted to fishing has time for a long carp session, and bottom gear require certain conditions and patiently waiting for a bite.

Fishing with a spinning rod is democratic, does not require much time and is possible in every body of water where a predator lives.

Choosing a spinning rod for beginners

To catch carp or grass carp, you need to go to a paid area, a large lake or a deep river; for spinning fishing, a small river flowing next to the house or a collective farm headquarters, where there are perches, pikes, and pike perch, is enough.

The list of predators in our reservoirs is much wider, and these are species that are found almost everywhere where there is at least some fish.

But in order to catch pike perch or pike perch, you need equipment and at least an inexpensive spinning rod. Buying your first spinning rod is an exciting and responsible moment, because the pleasure of fishing largely depends on the characteristics and quality of the gear used.

The main problem is that fishing stores offer a large assortment of spinning rods, and it is difficult for a non-specialist to figure out how to choose what is best for a novice angler.

Classification of spinning rods

Spinning rods are divided into two large classes:

  • plug;
  • telescopic.

A plug rod consists of 2 or 3 parts that are inserted into each other. During transportation, the form is disassembled and all parts are transported separately. The vast majority of spinning forms are two-part due to their short length. These feeders and carp fish come in 2 and 3 sections, but their length is 3.6-4.2 meters.

Advantages of plug spinning rods:

  • high strength;
  • reliability;
  • light weight;
  • porosity;
  • rigidity.

The plug-in spinning rod is more convenient to use and stronger than its competitors. The rigidity of the blank allows you to make long and accurate casts, and when fishing from the shore this is an important advantage.

A spinning angler looks for fish, changing location, and makes several dozen or even hundreds of casts during a session, so the light weight of the form gives an advantage.

A plug-in spinning rod is more reliable and its only significant drawback is its transport dimensions. But when fishing at long distances, the plug is the undisputed leader and the inconvenience of transportation fades into the background.

If a novice fisherman plans to catch a predator from the shore, when he needs long-distance and accurate casting, it is better for him to choose a plug-in spinning rod. They can also fish with a pole from a boat, but in such conditions the transport length is one of the decisive criteria for choosing a form.

But a telescopic spinning rod for beginners, when fishing from a boat and at close range, will help solve all problems.

The telescopic form consists of 4-5 parts that are inserted into each other. It turns out that the length of the rods is 2.7-3 meters, when folded it is 70-80 cm, they are convenient to transport even in a fishing bag.

The strength of a telescopic spinning rod is lower than that of a plug, and this is understandable, because weak points are the connection points between the parts of the form. During casting, the docking points withstand a serious load and, in the end, scratches and damage appear on the form.

Until a novice angler figures out how to properly throw a tackle with bait, especially long-distance, it is not recommended for him to fish with a telescopic spinning rod.

Characteristics of spinning rods

When deciding which spinning rod to choose for fishing, a novice fisherman needs to know its main characteristics.

The rods differ:

  • material of manufacture;
  • formation;
  • weight;
  • length;
  • transportation dimensions;
  • dough;
  • ring materials;
  • shape and length of handles.

Material of manufacture

The strength and durability of a spinning rod is what interests beginners first of all. These characteristics depend on the material from which the form is made.

Spinning rods are made from:

  • composite materials;
  • fiberglass;
  • metal;
  • carbon fiber materials (carbon).

Expert opinion

Vladimir Poltoranin

Fisherman - expert

Each species has its own advantages and disadvantages, and fishermen make a choice taking into account not only needs, but also financial capabilities.

Spinning rods made of fiberglass materials are familiar to our fathers and grandfathers. These are the “workhorses” that for a long time there was no alternative at all. The industry produced only fiberglass and metal spinning rods, but the second option was used as a donk.

Active fishing with a heavy spinning rod does not bring any pleasure, so fiberglass rods were very popular among predator fishermen. It should also be recalled that 20-30 years ago the quality of the fiberglass from which fishing rods were made was much lower than it is now.

As science and industry developed, new high-strength and lightweight materials appeared that were used in the production of spinning rods. Fishing rods made from composite materials are more expensive than fiberglass ones, but they are lighter and stronger. But the lightest and most durable spinning rods are made of carbon fiber (carbon fiber) and experienced fishermen give them preference.

The disadvantage of carbon is that it is brittle and, if used ineptly, a beginner risks breaking an expensive blank. Therefore, it is better to buy a spinning rod made of composite materials, and a plug or a telescope is a personal choice.

Spinning rod test

On the form of each spinning rod there are several digital and letter designations, and one of them is the test form. When catching a predator, bait is used different weights, but not every spinning rod is comfortable to throw both heavy and light equipment.

The test is a characteristic of a spinning rod, showing the weight of baits that are convenient and safe for them to throw. If the rod weight is from 10 to 20 grams, then the weight of the bait being thrown should not exceed 20 grams. Casting a heavier rig with such a rod will lead to breakage of the blank.

It is also inconvenient to use a bait weighing less than 10 grams, because the spinning rod will not “load” when casting and the equipment will not reach the desired point.

The following classes of fishing rods are distinguished according to the test:

  • heavy (heavy 20-60 grams);
  • medium (average 10-30 grams);
  • light (light 5-14 grams).

When choosing a spinning rod, you need to take into account the fishing conditions and the weight of the bait used. It is clear that with a heavy-class rod you can cast a light bait outside the test range, but this will make fishing inconvenient and reduce the sensitivity of the gear.

The spinner must quickly react to a bite, and a properly selected rod test (and therefore its sensitivity) will help with this.

Spinning fishing from the shore for beginners requires the use of heavy-duty fishing rods, because you need strong and accurate casts of large baits. But when fishing with a spinning rod for pike from a boat of less weight, you can use light-class rods.

It is not surprising that experienced fishermen have up to a dozen different forms in their arsenal, and this is not a whim or an unreasonable expense, it’s just that a rod with a certain test is selected for each fishing trip.

Manufacturers of spinning rods have made it easier for anglers to choose equipment by producing rods of intermediate classes:

  • medium-light;
  • medium-heavy.

A separate group is ultra-light forms (ultralight), with a test range of 0-10 grams, they are used when fishing with the lightest baits.

Selecting the length of the spinning rod

The length of spinning rods offered in stores varies from 120 cm to 4 meters or more, the choice depends on:

  • fishing conditions;
  • spinning techniques;
  • casting distance.

In search of a predator, a spinning fisherman has to cruise along the coastline, looking for promising points. It is inconvenient to cast bait with a long rod from under the trees, so a short form is selected for such conditions.

But when you need to throw a heavy bait from a clear place under the reeds near the opposite bank, it is more convenient to do this with a long spinning rod.

Fishing from a boat does not require the use of long forms, because long casts are unlikely in this case; you can swim to any interesting point.

The choice of rod length also depends on the fishing techniques used, because for example, jig fishing requires long casts, that is, long spinning rods. But when using twitching, it is more convenient to play with the bait with a short blank of 2.1-2.4 meters.

Rings

Not every spinner knows how important it is what rings the spinning rod is equipped with and how this affects the reliability of the tackle. The appearance of burrs on the line, breaks of the line when fishing, the reasons for this are poor-quality rings on the form.

The ring should be:

  1. as hard as possible;
  2. smooth;
  3. resistant to damage.

The distance between the rings, their location and diameter are characteristics that affect the casting distance. The cost of a spinning rod depends on the material and quality of the rings.

Build

Many fishermen learn what the structure of a spinning rod affects after gaining experience, and this factor is very important.

The construction happens:

  • slow;
  • fast;
  • average

Slow action rods bend completely along their entire length when casting. But anglers consider the most popular blanks to be fast action, capable of making sharp and sharp casts. When casting such spinning rods, only the tip bends and fishermen who have mastered correct technique casting, fully utilize the potential of the blank.

In addition, it is more convenient to make twitching or jigging with a fast-action rigid rod. But in order to fish with a rigid rod, you need experience, which comes with years and numerous sessions on different bodies of water.

The answer to the question of which spinning rod to buy for a beginner lies on the surface; it is a medium action blank, capable of throwing bait over a long distance and at the same time convenient for performing uniform retrieves. Such a rod will “forgive” the angler’s mistakes when fishing and at the same time give many exciting moments when hooking a fish that has bitten.

Spinning equipment for beginners

Once the rod is chosen, you need to solve the problems of how to assemble it and how to rig it, because the rod alone is not enough to catch fish.

Naturally, we also need:

  • coil;
  • fishing line;
  • hooks;
  • bait.

Spinning rods are most often equipped with spinning reels, with a safety margin sufficient for landing trophy fish. The diameter of the spool is from 1500 to 3000, on which the main line is wound.

The choice between braided line and monofilament is an important decision that affects the reliability of the gear and the convenience of the fisherman.

Monofilament fishing line has stretchability, and when fishing for a trophy predator, it absorbs its jerks. Here, of course, the angler must be able to work with a friction clutch, but the base material also matters.

Experienced fishermen prefer to use braided cord because it:

  • stronger than monofilament and you can use braided wire of a smaller diameter;
  • inextensible;
  • more durable than other fishing lines.

Only when fishing from ice do anglers use monofilament line or fluorocarbon line, since the line freezes at low temperatures and becomes covered with a crust of ice.

Beginner spinning players should buy reels with two spools and wind braid on one of them, and monofilament line on the other. Already on the pond, you can experiment and decide which base option is better, monofilament or braided.

The predatory fish is famous not only for its tough temperament, but also for its sharp teeth, especially for pike. To prevent the tackle from breaking due to sharp carnassial teeth, a leash, metal or fluorocarbon, is tied to the base.

The advantages of fluorocarbon leaders are that they are not only resistant to sharp teeth, but also unnoticeable in the water and will not alert the most cunning and experienced fish.

The final element of spinning tackle is a hook with bait. Some types of baits (such as wobblers or spinners) are equipped with hooks, but for fishing with silicone, a hook is tied to the leash. The hook size is selected taking into account the size of the bait and the expected fish in the catch.

Choosing the right spinning rod for a novice fisherman will help you learn how to fish faster predatory fish, and this hobby will remain for many years.

Spinning fishing is one of the most popular areas of modern amateur and sport fishing. In contrast to float and bottom fishing, spinning gear is characterized by a highly dynamic hunting, with frequent changes in fishing locations and constant movements of the fisherman across promising areas. Fishing strategies involve catching not only predatory fish species, but also a fairly wide range of representatives from the peaceful population of our freshwater ichthyofauna.

It is possible to catch fish with a spinning rod on reservoirs of various structures, and for these purposes today there is a decent selection of artificial baits that differ in their operating principles. will not cause any particular difficulties, since fishing stores offer a lot of types of specialized fishing rods, differing from each other in operating parameters and characteristics, selected for the upcoming fishing conditions. The technique of fishing itself is mastered quickly, since various styles of animation of baits differ in the complexity of execution, starting from the elementary uniform movements of a classic spinner, with which almost all beginners begin, and ending with the intricate play of a wobbler, which is within the power of an already experienced spinning player.

Spinning fishing for beginners will require a little theoretical training in terms of the ability to assemble effective tackle, correctly determine a promising hunting location and become familiar with the technique of casting and guiding the bait chosen for fishing. The article presented to the fisherman will reveal these basic issues, making it easier for the young spinning angler to quickly master this interesting and productive type of fishing.

The basics of spinning fishing begin with the ability to choose the right tackle, which will become a fundamental element in assembling the tool. For effective selection, they are guided by a number of conditions in which fishing will be carried out. In particular, the angler must imagine where he will cast from, from shorelines or fish water areas from a boat.

Fishing from coastlines is often complicated by all kinds of vegetation that hinders casting, which is also important to take into account when choosing gear. For fishing from a boat and in conditions of overgrown banks, short rods up to 2.1 meters are used, and when fishing from bridges and clean banks, long gear up to 3.5 meters is used. For dynamic fishing that does not put strain on your hands, it is better to choose carbon fiber gear or blanks made from composite materials. Based on the type of assembly, plug-in gear is most convenient.

Based on the parameters of the bait used, its weight and style of play, such characteristics of the rod as test and action are determined. The test parameter gives a range of limits for the optimal mass of baits acceptable when fishing with the selected gear. The structure indicates the rigidity of the form, which affects the information content of the gear and the clarity of bait control. Hard or fast fishing rods are much more effective at hooking fish and animating simulators, but practically do not absorb excess loads from jerks of the trophy. Soft ones, on the contrary, are less informative, but comfortable for fishing. When fishing with a spinning rod for beginners, it would be better to start with the purchase of a medium and more universal fishing rod, which allows you to feel the operation of the equipment, gaining an initial stable skill in mastering the technique of casting, retrieving and landing fish.

Coil selection

It is impossible to fish with a spinning rod without a reel. Just a couple of decades ago, inertial mechanisms were considered a mandatory and seemingly indispensable attribute of spinning fishing. But now they are a thing of the past, and they have been replaced by more advanced inertia-free and multiplier devices.

When assembling his first spinning tackle, a fisherman should focus on selecting a lightweight, high-speed spinning reel. These types of mechanisms are the easiest to operate, and they often do not require special maintenance. For many types of spinning fishing, reels in sizes from 2500 to 3500 units are suitable, with a friction brake and a spool capacity that can accommodate about 100 meters of the main thread.

A gear mechanism made of metal alloys better copes with constant loads from vigorous wiring. The gear ratio or its coefficient for spinning fishing should be higher than five. Smooth running of the reel mechanism can be ensured by the presence of 3–5 bearings. A larger number of these types of parts makes the reels heavier and more difficult to maintain. You should not rush to buy an expensive device. For the initial stage of mastering fishing, a medium-budget mechanism is sufficient.

Line and leashes

Spinning fishing can be done with both monofilament and . The choice of material is determined by the fishing distance. Braided cords have a rigid, inextensible structure, which is better at attracting bites from long distances and allows you to control the course of the bait much more effectively. Monofilament fishing line, having a high stretch coefficient, does an excellent job of absorbing excess loads that arise when fighting hooked fish. But such material transmits information absolutely poorly from long distances and is mostly used for short-range fishing.

When equipping a spinning rod for fishing from the shore, preference is given to braided cords. When planning fishing from a boat, where you can approach a promising point within a short distance, it is worth considering the use of monofilament fishing lines. Braids are stronger than monofilament and their diameters in relation to breaking loads are significantly lower than monofilament wood. For rigging with braids, cords with diameters of 0.12-0.18 mm are most often used, but if you use regular nylon fishing line, you need to use a material no less than 0.2 mm thick.

Important! Such an element of equipment as a leash is used purely for...

Modern spinning rods use soft Kevlar and fluorocarbon leaders. Steel, titanium and tungsten hard options are used much less frequently, due to their strong influence, which worsens the performance of the bait. As a rule, the optimal leash length is around 15–20 cm. In all other cases, baits are tied directly to the cord or fast-release carabiners and fasteners are used. For rotating spinners, it is necessary to have a swivel to prevent twisting and deformation of the thread.

Selection of baits

Spinning fishing is distinguished by a huge selection of artificial bait options, from which you can choose an effective and attractive tool for catching predatory and peaceful fish. The spinner's classic catching tool is the oscillating spinner. No less popular is a rotating spoon, suitable for catching most peaceful carp fish. There are a lot of silicone molds on sale that imitate fry, crustaceans, worms and fictitious fantasy types that are attractive and behave realistically when placing simulators.

No less popular in spinning hunting. Wobblers are considered a high-tech bait, endowed with the functions of maintaining a certain level of depth, the presence of elements of pronounced own game, creating noise and vibration effects. In addition, wobblers, even with their appearance, color and body structure, arouse genuine interest among both predatory and peaceful fish.

Certain types of rigs allow you to fish with a spinning rod for live bait, frogs and dead fish. The choice of a promising bait is made based on the food preferences of the fish, its size, activity during fishing, as well as the style of fishing performed by the angler. It is recommended that a spinning player’s arsenal contain a variety of types and types of simulators, the decision to use which is made directly during the hunting process.

Finding a promising fishing spot

Fishing with a spinning rod on a river, on a lake, or in the waters of a small pond will be successful if the fisherman knows how to correctly identify promising areas for parking and feeding fish. First of all, in a reservoir you should pay attention to visually noticeable surface anomalous areas in which there is a high probability of fish accumulation. The confluence of currents of different strengths on rivers and steep banks, the adjoining of clear water areas to the coastal walls of vegetation or overgrown areas of a reservoir, the crowns of trees hanging over the water, shading the water, always attract different kinds fish and are considered promising places for fishing.

The stones and snags sticking out of the water, as well as dead wood or islands of vegetation, where an active predator will probably be hiding, are not deprived of attention. Fishing areas are near hydraulic structures, bridge supports, dams and road embankments. The activity of the trophy can be determined by the accumulation of birds in certain water areas, as well as the violent behavior of the fry jumping to the surface from the water, which is characteristic of a pike that easily reveals itself to be hunting.

For example, the asp shows its activity by frequent fighting. Echo sounders or underwater maps of fishing spots help to study the reservoir more thoroughly, and the spinning fisher himself can examine the bottom with a marker rod on the eve of the main hunt, looking for promising places for fishing. By determining the boundaries of dumps, depth differences and knowing the location of the holes, it is promising to fish on the edges of these anomalies, where predatory fish like to hunt, and especially such frequent objects of spinning fishing as pike perch and pike.

How to cast a spinning rod

Mastering the technique of using a spinning rod for a novice angler begins with practicing throws. In fact, working with the tackle is not that difficult, but it requires preliminary training, where the spinner can understand and practice the principles of the harmonious operation of a set of equipment. It is best to carry out training in an open, free and clean area. There are three main methods of casting a spinning bait: casting from the back, casting from under the hand and casting from the side.
Casting from the back is the most commonly used technique for presenting bait..

Important! The method is distinguished by its range and accuracy of sending the simulator.

It is most often used when fishing from the shore, when trees and bushes adjacent to the banks do not interfere with the swing. The spinning rod is taken in both hands. The reel line guide opens and your finger right hand The cord is pressed against the tackle form. The bait being thrown descends from the tip of the tackle by 30–40 cm. The rod is placed behind the back and a smooth swing is made. At the highest point of the amplitude of the swing, the finger releases the cord, which, by inertia, from the force of the bait fed forward, is thrown off the reel spool. After splashing down the bait, the fishing line closes and retrieving begins.

Casting from under the hand, a frequent technique when fishing from a boat, when the bait is fed to short distances with high accuracy of hitting the required area. The rod with the hanging bait is moved in the opposite direction from the hand holding it, going down slightly. The finger holds the line on the blank when the line guide is open. Done flick rod forward, short, with a raised tip of the spinning rod and synchronized descent of the line. According to the feeding distance, the bait is slowed down for splashdown by lightly pressing the cord with your finger in the right place, followed by throwing it into the working position of the line layer.

Side casting is used in the technique of catching predators with a spinning rod in cramped conditions, when the coastlines are covered by tree crowns or bushes and tall reeds that interfere with casting from the back. The rod is moved horizontally towards the hand holding it, to the side. A smooth swing is made with the simultaneous release of the pressed fishing line with the line guide open. The bait flies far, but often not so accurately, which must be taken into account when carrying out this type of casting.

Spinning fishing technique for beginners

To properly fish with a spinning rod, an angler needs to master several basic types of fishing and be able to use them under conditions suitable for fishing tactics. The quality of the wiring itself will depend on the proper balance of the rod and the weight of the bait in conjunction with the fishing depth and current forces. Wires carried out in reservoirs without currents or with little current are much easier to do than fishing on a fast river. Current forces influence the operation of the simulator, distorting its trajectories and level horizons, which is taken into account when selecting baits with a test that can quickly bring the tool to operating parameters without overloading the form itself. During wiring, carefully monitor the movement of the quivertype and their own tactile sensations, reacting to a failure of the simulator with short jerks and sharp cuts.

Important! Any malfunction of the fishing tool is fraught with a bite from cautious and suspicious fish, requiring a reverse reaction from the spinning angler.

Having felt the resistance of prey hooked, you need to calmly begin fishing, trying to keep both the catch and the tackle itself intact.

Stepped type of wiring

The stepped type of retrieve is the most productive method in spinning hunting. It is used in most cases when fishing is carried out with silicone. The technique for holding the nozzle is quite simple. After the simulator is deepened, the spinning player begins reeling in the cord with two or three turns of the reel handle, pausing. During the revolutions of the mechanism, the silicone lifts off the ground, making a kind of step in the water column, and during a pause it falls completely freely back to the bottom. This kind of helps to develop your own fishing tactics based on maintaining pauses of different times, speed and number of reeling revolutions. The line is suitable for catching pike, pike perch, perch and catfish. Bycatch can include bream, carp, carp and crucian carp.

Uniform wiring

The uniform wiring method is much simpler than the stepped type of feeding the simulator. This classic look fishing with a rotating lure, used for catching all types of predatory and peaceful fish. In addition to spinners, they fish on a uniform retrieve with wobblers and unloaded silicone. The wiring technique is quite simple. The spinner brings the fishing tool into the hunting zone and, when it reaches the working horizon, begins winding the cord at the same speed. During the process of winding the threads, the failure of the simulators is monitored by cutting. As a rule, the technique does not imply pausing and is characterized only by changing the speed of the bait during the next cast, which depends on the activity of the fish.

Important! Aggressive fish take at fast speeds, passive fish prefer to attack a sluggish bait.

In practice, spinning anglers often have to combine styles, deviating from the classical rules. Often, uniform movements with changing speeds and wave movements of spinners or wobblers are successful. In other situations, the predator likes to pause and attack the bait hanging in the water column.

Fishing

Successful fishing with a spinning rod ends with a pleasant moment for the angler, namely fishing. The bite is accompanied by an immediate hook, a sharp, but not sweeping, movement as short as possible. If you feel the weight on the hook, you should not rush, forcing events, pulling the fish to the shore or side of the boat.

It’s good when fishing with a wobbler contributed to your luck and two or even three hooks dug into the predator’s mouth and securely held it on the rod. It’s another matter when the lure with one hook from the outside of the mouth or by the tip of the lip grabbed a lively pike, producing tall candles and aggressive waste during fishing. At such moments, the angler’s concentration and constant tension on the line help to cope with any fish. A particularly large trophy is pumped out using a fishing rod and winding the released fishing line with a reel. When fishing from boats, they always keep a landing net with them, which they use to pick up fish brought to the side. When fishing from coastlines, they look for comfortable and flat banks where they can bring caught fish with the possibility of further removing them from the water to land.

Spinning- This sporty look catching mainly predatory fish with artificial baits made of plastic, silicone, metals and threads. The essence of the method is to place bait in the water column in order to imitate a sick fish and provoke a predator to bite. A fishing rod is also called a spinning rod and has several classes depending on the weight of the bait used. The most common spinning baits: spinners (rotating and oscillating), twisters and vibrotails ( silicone baits) and wobbler ( plastic fish, often having a blade in the front for deepening during wiring).

In this step-by-step guide, we tried to give clear instructions on how to prepare for spinning fishing, choosing the right bait, reservoir and fishing location from the shore and on a boat, and talked about the technique of catching all the most popular predatory fish: perch, pike, pike perch and rotan. Armed with this guide, a beginner will definitely not be left without a catch, provided that there are still predatory fish in the reservoir.

How to choose spinning tackle

Rod

To choose a rod, reel and line, we need to decide in what conditions we will catch predatory fish. For simplicity, we divide the conditions into 2 types:

A shallow river or pond with fish up to 1 kg in size and no more than 3 meters deep.
Large river or lake with great depths and the need for distant requests.

On small bodies of water, it is better to use a light rod of the Light class (weight of baits up to 10 g) or even Ultralight (up to 5 g). The advantage of light baits and the corresponding rod is that their play is much more lively and in shallow water and shallow depths it will allow you to make movements that are very attractive to fish, which cannot be achieved with a heavy bait, which in shallow water will rather crawl along the bottom.

For beginners, we recommend starting with an Ultralight spinning rod and fishing more often in ponds and small rivers. The brand and model of the spinning rod is not so important for the first steps. But good budget options are Shimano Catana and Volzhanka Stiletto.

If you are going to fish on a reservoir, a large lake or a river with a strong current, then you will have to arm yourself with a heavier spinning rod. Spinning rods of the Medium (M) and Heavy (H) classes are suitable. The weight of the bait will be from 10 to 20 g, depending on the casting distance and the depth of the fishing spot. The target bait is any jigs and heavy spoons, you will learn about them later in this article.

Choose a jig spinning rod with a weight of up to 20-40 g if you want to fish in strong currents, great depths and far from the shore. Good budget quality companies are Maximus, Aiko, Shimano. More expensive spinning rods - Salmo.

Coil

There are 3 types of spinning reels: inertial drum, inertialess and multiplier. Drums have long been a thing of the past, or are used in fly fishing with a fly. Multiplier baits are designed for sensitive fishing with very light baits or ultra-heavy ones by trolling. Too difficult for a beginner. But spinning reels are ideal for beginners and the vast majority of anglers have been using them for many years.

The photo shows a multiplier reel. It is more difficult to learn and use than inertia-free. We recommend that you first master a spinning reel, and then take a closer look at the multiplier, if there are reasons for this.

The spinning reel must correspond to the class of the fishing rod. For light rods, choose a reel size up to 1500-2000. For heavier jig spinning rods - up to 3500. The dimension is always indicated in thousands and indicates how many meters of fishing line will fit on the spool if its diameter is 0.01 mm. That is, the spool of a reel of size 1500 will accommodate 150 m of fishing line with a diameter of 0.1 mm and 75 m of fishing line with a diameter of 0.2 mm.

An example of a popular inertia-free ultralight reel: Stinger Innova Ultralight 2004. Price: ~5990 rub. An example of a heavier spinning reel: Shimano Catana CX 2500-4000. Price: 4000-5000 rub.

Line and leash

There are 3 types of fishing lines:

Wicker (wicker)– a durable cord of any required diameter, does not stretch at all. Ideal for the main line of our spinning tackle.

Monofilament– transparent or painted in a certain color, stretches greatly, this is bad, average strength. Suitable for main line only if it is not possible to wind braid on the reel. Or in the case of lure fishing, where you will use a uniform retrieve and the feedback from the bait to the rod tip is not as important as in a jig step retrieve (more on that below).

We're on the shore, where to start?

1. Put the tackle together

2. Finding a fishing spot and choosing a fishing technique

Each of the popular predators should be looked for in certain places in the reservoir, and the technique of catching this predator has its own nuances. Study the table below.

Fish Perch Pike Rotan Zander
Where does it live? Loves fresh water. In ponds, try to go to places with an influx of water (i.e., in a place where a river flows into a pond or lake). The water there is rich in oxygen, which attracts perch.In warm weather it loves shallow water, but in early spring and late autumn, on the contrary, it descends to the deepest parts of the reservoir.Loves littered areas at the bottom and vegetation.Look near the bottom immediately after a sharp increase in depth. Loves driftwood.
Priority in baits Turntables, retractable leash with small twisterSpikes, wobblers, spinnersTwisters on a jig head, retractable leashRetractable leash, twister on jig head
Nature of the game Fast step wiring, high frequency vibrationsSlow wiring, low frequency vibrations.PausesMedium speed step wiring

For example, to catch bass on a pond, head to the place where the pond begins its origin. Arm yourself with a spinner or twister and try fishing various places casting in different directions and gradually moving along the shore.

3. Bite

During uniform or stepped wiring It is important to try to keep the line taut as much as possible. If you have chosen the right weight of the bait and the sensitivity of the spinning rod, then you will definitely feel a series of blows or 1 blow - this is a bite from a predator. When you feel the blows, make a sharp, but not very amplitude, hook (sharply pull the tip of the rod 1 meter in the opposite direction of the pond). You shouldn’t hook too hard, as perch, for example, have very soft lips and you can simply tear them. But it’s also impossible not to hook at all - there is a high probability of not hooking the fish properly.

The lips of pike and pike perch are very hard, so when catching them you need to make a more amplitude jerk.

4. Fishing

The process of landing small fish comes down to raising the tip of the rod higher and slightly to the side and smoothly reeling in the reel moderately and quickly. Don't reel the fish too close to the tip; it will be difficult to pull it ashore without damaging the rod.

The larger the fish, the great skill and you need to have the right gear. Here are our 3 tips:

  1. Correctly adjust your reel's drag brake. For spinning reels, the friction is located in the front part. Perhaps some in the back. This is a screw that you can turn, it cracks. By loosening it, the reel will lower the line even with the slightest load. If you tighten it too much, the line will not go down at all, which is bad, because a large fish can easily break the line. So strong jerks of the fish should be counteracted by a properly configured clutch. You need to adjust it without pulling the line directly from the reel, but with the gear already fully assembled. Give the bait to your fishing partner and ask him to hold it carefully so that he does not get hurt on the hooks. Step aside yourself and pretend as if you are fishing for fish. Twist the clutch and adjust it so that the line is released only when the tension is strong enough (not to the point of breaking the line, but strong enough).
  2. Play with the rod, smoothly fight off the jerks of the fish with your hands. And don’t force things, let the fish get tired.
  3. After a while, when the fish gets tired, bring it to the surface and let it breathe. After this, most predators commit last push, after which they completely run out of strength and you gradually pull it towards the shore. In such situations, it is very good to have a net with you and sometimes a partner who will help you place the net under the fish and carefully pull the trophy out of the water.

That's all. Ask your questions in the comments. Enjoy your acquaintance with spinning tackle!

Hello dear readers. In this article I would like to give the basics of spinning fishing to beginners who are starting this journey. From basic principles, this is: how to choose a spinning rod, what is a test, the structure of a spinning rod, how to choose a reel for a spinning rod, etc. important aspects of spinning fishing for beginners.

Fishing using spinning rods attracts more and more anglers every year. The main reasons for this phenomenon are clear: the dream of catching enviable trophies, and the sporting component of such fishing.

And here the first questions immediately arise related to equipment and the selection of effective tackle, since a beginner still has to master the technique of casting and catching, among other things.

So, spinning fishing for beginners begins with choosing gear. High-quality spinning equipment is not cheap, so we will try to save the family budget of beginning athletes.

Moreover, in modern stores, even experienced spinning anglers’ eyes run wild from the abundance of baits, spinners, all kinds of additional devices, such as gappers, extractors, etc. So we came close to the question: “how to choose a spinning rod for fishing?”

One of the main characteristics of a fishing rod is its test. The lower and upper numbers indicate the minimum and Weight Limit in grams of the bait that we will throw. The main classes of spinning rod, based on its test, are as follows:

  • easy. The weight of the bait ranges from 5 to 15 grams,
  • average. In this case, the rod test is in the range of 10-30 grams,
  • heavy, with dough 20-50 grams.

However, in addition to the main ones, there are several intermediate tests, for example ultra-light or medium-light, with a test of 5-25 g, which can be called universal, at least for novice anglers. This kind of spinning tackle will be optimal for a beginner.

The price category of fishing rods is quite broad, and here everyone can act based on their own financial capabilities. It is not necessary to invest in expensive Japanese or European spinning rods; A novice angler can take his first steps in spinning fishing with the help of an inexpensive Chinese rod.

Another selection criterion is the length of the spinning rod. It depends on the reservoirs where you will catch the predator, the fishing method (for example, from a boat or the shore), and on the fishing technique. It is clear that it is easier to cast from under overhanging bushes with a short rod, but for an effective jig you need a sufficient length. Most rods are in the 2-3 meter range, but in our opinion, the best all-round spinning rod for a beginner is a 2.4 meter rod.

The technique of fishing with a spinning rod, the conditions of future fishing and the choice of bait influence such characteristics of the spinning rod as action. The main types of tuning are slow, medium and fast. It is better for beginners to turn their attention to rods with a medium action, for the simple reason that the simplest retrieve, which they will master first, will be uniform.

Having selected a fishing rod, we can begin to consider how to equip our spinning rod. There is no less choice of reels on the market than the choice of rods themselves.

Today, the vast majority of anglers use spinning reels. They are quite simple and not fussy to use. Any spinning reel consists of a spool, handle, friction brake and bearings.

The spool is a drum on which a line or cord is wound. The role of the clutch is to dampen the jerks of the caught prey and prevent the line from breaking. And the bearings ensure soft operation in those places where the reel body and its moving parts come into contact.

It is advisable to carefully inspect the selected reel for defects, and also listen for suspicious noises when it rotates.

When we have finished discussing how to choose a spinning rod and reel, we must remember how to properly attach the reel to the fishing rod. To do this, we place it in the reel seat on the handle of the spinning rod, so that the reel faces down.

Now let's move on to the final spinning rod equipment for beginners. IN last years Most experienced fishermen prefer braided line or braided line to replace regular monofilament line. It does not stretch (the so-called “memory effect”) and is an order of magnitude stronger.

As a rule, the thinner the line, the further you can cast a spoon or wobbler. But a fishing line that is too thin may not support the weight of the bait or hook. You need to wind it within 2-3 mm of the top side of the spool. Usually, the supply of fishing line on the reel is enough to cast any desired distance.

To properly assemble the spinning rod, we just need to put the final touches on its equipment. Do I need to put a leash on the fishing line? It depends largely on what kind of fish we are going to catch. If, for example, it is a pike, then you will need a leash - knowing the addiction of this fish to biting the line.

In order not to degrade the performance of the bait too much, it is better to use soft leashes. Lead rigs for spinning are connected to the main line using special swivels, which retain the ability to rotate the bait on the lead. Of course, before tying the leader, the fishing line from the reel spool is threaded through all the rings of the rod.

When we have sorted out the reel and leashes, it’s time to hook the bait onto the hook. Spinning fishing for beginners is inseparable from a huge number of artificial baits, which can be divided into several main groups:

  • Spoons. Here preference should be given to the so-called “turntables”. They are the most universal, unlike classic oscillating spoons, which only pike can covet;
  • Silicone tips. The advantage of this type of bait is its availability: they are inexpensive, but they are quite catchy, especially when fishing for pike-perch, pike and perch. Each vibrating tail has its own size of cargo, that is, jig heads, which can be from 1 to 20 or more grams;
  • Wobblers. They can be floating, sinking, deep-sea, shallow-sea. Designed to catch specific fish in specific conditions. They are the most expensive among most baits.

There are long hours ahead of mastering casting techniques, changing baits, untangling fishing lines, the first lost lures and the first fish gatherings. But for this reason, spinning fishing is considered one of the most sporting and spectacular among anglers... Good luck to you!
