The organizers of the famous Demino ski marathon will hold two running starts this year.

The Demino Marathon took place for the first time in 2007. Then about a hundred athletes and skiing enthusiasts started at a 50-kilometer distance. In 2012, the organizers of the VI Demino Marathon, in which 1,600 people took part, essentially passed the most difficult exam for entry into the series of the largest marathons in the world - Worldloppet. The evaluation of the VI Demino Marathon was carried out by the Worldloppet executive committee. Its members not only watched, but were themselves participants in the marathon. The result was the inclusion of the Demino Marathon into the Worldloppet family. Due to stable above-zero temperatures in February and March, unfortunately for many skiers and fans, the organizers had to cancel the Demino Marathon. But such a forced stop along the way only spurred on the Rybinsk residents. And already in 2015, the best marathon skiers of the country and the world were again welcomed in Demino.

The VIII Deminsk ski marathon of the elite Worldloppet series brought together more than two thousand athletes and skiing enthusiasts - representatives of 25 countries and 52 regions of Russia. 1,429 participants took to the start of the “golden” fifty-kilometer distance. Demino Marathon route: route, food points, elevation profile

The Demino Marathon route is prepared using special equipment and is distinguished by its rigidity. As the athletes note, it is a pleasure to ski on it, and the skis seem to move on their own. However, those who are in the last rows will in any case have to deal with falling into the snow. The width of the track in the starting area reaches 21 m, in some sections it is about 15 m, which allows you to move freely in several rows. On the descents the track narrows (the width of the track is at least 6 m). On high-speed sections, even experienced skiers sometimes fail to stay on their feet due to the fall of the previous participant. By the way, according to the rules of the competition changing skis during the course is prohibited.

The marathon distance consists of 2 laps of 25 km. Half marathon – 1 lap 25 km long.

They will meet on the same lap 3 points with food, medical care and equipment(usually they are located at the start, at the 8th and 20th km). At food stations you can drink water, isotonic water, and energy drink. For food, they usually offer bananas, cucumbers, and bread.

Pay attention to the route map. Ornate, with many turns. The first 14 km are flat, which is quite easy to drive on. Next there are 4 difficult descents and ascents 4 km long. After this, it’s again a fairly flat track with small hills until the end of the circle, and a descent at the 25th km. Then the athletes born in 2004-2006 took to the start line. They ran 5 km. Among young people, Lev Subbotin, a representative of the Yaroslavl region, became the best. He covered the stated distance in 15 minutes 28 seconds. Among the girls, Anastasia Rodina from Yaroslavl became the best.

The next to run were athletes born in 2000-2003. At this stage of the competition, they had to cover a distance twice as long as the previous skiers. At a distance of 10 km best time showed Alexander Anishin from the Ivanovo region. He completed it in 26 minutes 05 seconds. The best among the girls was his fellow countryman Irina Sbitneva.

The competition was closed by the so-called “silver” race. 300 skiers took to the start of the 25 km distance. Of the world-famous participants in the race, Olympic champions Nikita Kryukov, Evgeniy Dementyev, winner of the gold race of the Deminsk ski marathon - 2017 Raul Shakirzyanov, and world champion in ski mountaineering Natasha Leonardi-Cortesi decided to compete on the track.

Almost at the very start, the top three immediately formed: Nikita Kryukov, Evgeny Dementyev and Yaroslavl athlete Evgeny Tsepkov. Our fellow countryman was in the lead throughout the entire race, but at the finish line he gave way to eminent athletes. Nikita Kryukov became the best, showing a result of 1 hour 46 seconds. Literally a second later, Evgeny Dementyev finished. And a second later, Evgeny Tsepkov.

— Evgeniy Dementiev and I first let the athlete from the Yaroslavl region go, then we were barely able to catch up, and then we all went to the finish line together. He is a great fellow, and I congratulate him on his prize-winning place, - said Olympic champion Nikita Kryukov.

Among women, the best in the “silver” race was Vologda resident Olga Rumyantseva, covering 10 km in 1 hour 11 minutes 55 seconds. Behind her is an athlete from the Yaroslavl region Oksana Yakovleva. Varvara Prokhorova from the Moscow region took third place.

This year, the traditional international Rostec Deminsk ski marathon brought together record number participants - about 2,500 thousand athletes took to the track during these two competition days. 20 countries were represented at the marathon, some had already become “native residents” of Demino, while others came here for the first time.

Their triumphs and difficult struggle for the podium were watched by almost 10,000 spectators who gathered near Rybinsk to directly participate in supporting their favorite athletes.

We can rightfully say that this marathon has become the largest not only in the history of the Demino CLS, but also in all of Russia.
