Winners of the 2017 Melon Music Awards. 2017 Melon Music Awards Winners Female Group: TWICE
0 28 August 2017, 09:17Noah and Miley Cyrus, Ellen DeGeneres
On August 27, the 34th Music Awards took place in Inglewood, California, where, as you might guess from the name, the best music videos of the year are selected. the site tells how the show went and who was the winner of the evening.
Having admired the guests on the red carpet, we move, albeit virtually, to The Forum hall, where the main action took place that evening. Miley Cyrus, Pink, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Jared Leto and many other popular performers took to the stage. However, not everyone received figurines in the form of an astronaut in a spacesuit with a flag on which the MTV logo is depicted.
The winner of the award was rapper Kendrick Lamar, who won in six categories at once: his video Humble, which plays on the theme of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous fresco “The Last Supper,” was recognized best video of the year. True, this did not help Lamar win in the “Best Artist” category: this title went to British singer Ed Sheeran.
The award for Katy Perry was not very successful in terms of awards: the singer’s Chained to the Rhythm video was nominated in four categories, but ultimately did not win in any. However, the star was clearly not upset that she had to leave the VMA empty-handed: Katie, who became the host of the evening, put on an enchanting show for the audience and received a lot of applause. She floated above the stage dressed as an astronaut, tried on different outfits and wigs, and danced on a giant basketball. Even Miley Cyrus, who lit up the stage in 50s style that evening, could not outshine Perry!
Pink also had a brilliant performance, receiving the Michael Jackson Award from Ellen DeGeneres. The singer thanked her for the honor and addressed her little daughter, who was sitting in the audience at that moment, with an emotional speech, the meaning of which boiled down to the following: you need to love yourself, anyone, and know that all people are different.
Jared Leto also had an emotional speech, remembering Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington:
Chester was my friend and he taught me many important things through his example: to work hard, follow your dreams and always be kind and caring while doing it. When I think of Chester, his face immediately appears before my eyes, and he is always smiling. I think about it unbelievably big heart. I think about his wife, family and group, in which everyone was like brothers. I remember Chester's voice, fierce and gentle at the same time. A voice that will live forever
- Leto concluded.
Another poignant speech was given that evening by Paris Jackson, who appeared at the ceremony to present the award for Best Pop Video. The daughter of Michael Jackson spent the time allotted to her on stage to brand racism: Paris condemned the riots in Charlottesville, which broke out on racial grounds.
By the way, a separate category was allocated to clips that in one way or another condemn discrimination based on skin color, religion, nationality, orientation and other characteristics.

The winners of the 2017 American Music Awards, America's annual national music awards, were announced on November 19. The ceremony was distinguished by the scope of performances and also showed interesting results.
Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson with children
Lady Gaga
Pink with husband Carrie Hart
Selena Gomez
Demi Lovato
Christina Aguilera
Among the best live performances at the 2017 American Music Awards, the leading position was undoubtedly taken by Christina Aguilera, who had the honor of performing a tribute to the memory of Whitney Houston. Let us remind you that just the other day, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary, the soundtrack to the film “The Bodyguard” was re-released. Aguilera’s eight-minute performance consisted of the songs for this film.
Unfortunately, rock artists did not particularly distinguish themselves at the awards this year, but fans were delighted with the joint performance of Khalid and Imagine Dragons, who successfully mixed their hits. In addition, among the duets, the public and television viewers noted with particular warmth those who performed the classic rock ballad Everybody Hurts.
Kelly and Pink also appeared on stage with solo numbers. For Clarkson, the performance was more than traditional (although the young lady sings, of course, beautifully). But P!nk set a new acrobatic record by performing a single at a height of 34 floors. The singer has flown in the air more than once during her performances, including at several music awards, but she has never risen so high. However, like other artists.
In a more traditional vein, Lady Gaga performed her latest studio single, putting on a great show with live musicians, stage design and cool choreography.
At the end of the evening, guests, nominees and winners of the 2017 American Music Awards honored the disco legend and true pop icon Diana Ross. The artist received a lifetime achievement award and gave the audience a pleasant performance, which was preceded by a documentary video.

The American Music Awards (AMA) are being presented this year for the 45th time, but the award, created as a counterweight to the Grammys, has not become on par with its competitor. Perhaps the fact is that the Grammy is awarded by the members of the professional Recording Academy, which includes the most successful artists, and the AMA selects nominees and winners by public vote, which makes this prize similar to the one what is called the People's Choice Awards, which also appeared in the 70s. But be that as it may, the Grammys still remain the main musical event of the year, while the AMAs already seem to have come to terms with his role as “eternally second.”
Of course, this does not prevent the creators of the award (this is the company of producer Dick Clark and) from annually organizing a three-hour show -
with performances by stars, invitations of celebrities and the obligatory red carpet, which is written about by all publications covering show business events. Still, shows of this scale are quite rare (MTV does something similar, but not so serious), and the Grammys alone are still unable to satisfy the demand. In addition, the AMA sometimes manages to set a trend - for example, last year, it was at this award that performers and laureates first spoke about the dangers of a Trump presidency, which has become a trend of the year at various ceremonies, from the Golden Globes to the MTV awards. However, in this case, the time factor played a role - the American Music Awards are traditionally awarded in November, before the start of the main awards season, and were the first to respond to the unexpected results of the US elections.
This year, due to the absence of any significant political events, the musicians and the host of the show, actress Tracee Ellis Ross (as well as the organizers of the award) had to focus on purely musical issues. And in this anniversary year for the AMA, there were no special surprises.
Claiming to win in eight categories, he easily took home seven prizes.
He received the title of “Artist of the Year” - that is, he won the main nomination of this award, became the best singer in two categories at once - “Pop/Rock” and “Soul/R&B”, and his album “24K Magic” became the best album of these types of music. In addition, Bruno Mars' composition "That's What I Like" won the category "best Soul/R&B song", and its video became the best video of the year.
The fact that the AMA, as a rule, only records popular phenomena, and does not define them, has long been no secret. One of these phenomena was this year’s song “Despacito” - a composition by Puerto Rican musician Luis Fonsi, recorded with the participation of vocalist Daddy Yankee, which was released back in January, but only reached a wider audience in April, after recording a remix in which he accepted participation . After that, something unimaginable began - the Spanish-language composition topped the charts in the USA and Britain (for the first time in the last twenty years, after the success of the song “Macarena”), the video clip collected more than 4 billion views on YouTube, and also became the service’s record holder for “likes” (more than 20 million).
On December 2, the 2017 Melon Music Awards took place at the Gocheok Sky Dome (Seoul).
