Field No. 1.

Field #1 is the easiest to find. This is the Luzhniki Grand Sports Arena, located inside the famous stadium.

There are 4 stands at the stadium: A – main with VIP boxes, B – right side, D – left side, C – opposite stand A, located on the side of the central entrance to the sports complex.

Field No. 2.

This field is located in the Northern Sports Complex, which is also called the Northern Sports Core. The easiest way to get to it is from the Sportivnaya metro station or from the Luzhniki station of the Moscow Central Circle.

Enter the territory of the sports complex through the Main Entrance and immediately after the Sales Center turn right to the red 3-story building of the General Directorate. Go around it to the left and you will see three nearby football fields (№№ 5, 4, 3).

Field No. 2 is located opposite left hand, if you stand with your back to the General Directorate building. It is surrounded by red running tracks.

Enter the territory of the sports complex through the Central entrance and walk along the main alley in the direction of the Lenin monument straight to the building of the Great Sports Arena (BSA).

Behind the third row of large flower beds there will be a radial path. Turn right and follow it to the end. On the right hand there are fields No. 13 and 12 connected by a platform, and in front you can see a large
rectangular building with columns - Small Sports Arena. Having reached the end of the path, turn right and walk a dozen or two meters parallel to the Small Sports Arena building.

Field No. 21.

To get to field 21, go along the street. Luzhniki from the Central entrance to the sports complex to the right, towards Luzhnetskaya embankment. On the left hand there will be a 3-story red building of the General Directorate, fields No. 5, 4, 3, Walk of Fame, then field No. 21.

Field No. 22

Field No. 22 is located near the Multisport Palace. The easiest way to get to it is through the Walk of Fame. It is easy to reach along the street. Luzhniki, turn right near the Central entrance to the sports complex. Having entered the Alley, walk along the right side until you pass the Multisport building located on the right almost to the end. Turn right onto the platform in front of the palace.

Fields No. 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29.

These fields are located in the area of the Luzhniki sports town. From the main entrance to the sports complex, go along the street. Luzhniki to the right, towards Luzhnetskaya Embankment on the left hand and Novodevichy Ponds Park on the right. To get to field No. 30, from the Central entrance to the sports complex, go along the street. Luzhniki to the right, towards Luzhnetskaya embankment, to the site in front of the Sports Palace (“State Central Concert Hall “Russia”). Go around the Palace building on the right side and go through it to the end. On your right you will see a large, irregularly shaped fenced field. This is field number 30.

On the eve of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, I was lucky enough to attend the Russia-Brazil friendly match, which took place in the main arena of the World Cup, at the Luzhniki Stadium on March 23, 2018. Before reconstruction, the stadium was famous for being the main stadium for the 1980 Olympics and performing relevant functions, largely related to the hosting of track and field competitions. The stadium is also famous for hosting the last concert of the Kino group.

In 1996-1997, a roof was built over the stadium.

Since the 90s, the stadium began to be used primarily for holding football matches and even hosted the UEFA Cup final on May 12, 1999 and the UEFA Champions League final on May 21, 2008.

Despite the fact that the stadium was honored to host matches of this level, and had a large capacity (about 80,000 spectators), the stadium was not convenient for spectators. For example, there was not always good visibility from the fan stands; another problem was the large distance of the field from the stands due to the presence of running tracks in the stadium, which occupy significant space.

After reconstruction before the World Cup, visibility became completely different; now the field is clearly visible from almost all spectator seats. This is connected not only with the fact that they were removed Treadmills and the stands have been moved closer to the field, but also with the fact that the degree of inclination has changed significantly and the distant seats have become higher.

World Championship 2018

The Luzhniki Stadium will host 7 championship matches, two of them the opening and the final.

The opening match will take place on June 14, 2018 at 18:00. In addition to the match in which the national teams of Russia and Saudi Arabia will meet, the organizers promise a grandiose ceremonial part (grandiose by the standards of football, but not the Olympic Games).
The group match of Group F, Germany - Mexico will take place at the arena on June 17th at 18:00.

Due to the fact that the running tracks were removed and the stands were moved closer to the field, we can undoubtedly say that the visibility of the stadium has improved significantly! The value of the first category has decreased significantly; in my opinion, now there is no significant difference in which tier to sit on, especially if you do not take into account logistical nuances (climbing to the 8th floor on foot is not always convenient). Access to the stadium

I had the first experience of not only visiting the reconstructed Luzhniki Stadium, but also a trip to the MCC. Having read reviews from fans who had attended previous friendlies, I was pretty sure that getting in and out of the stadium would be difficult. But in practice this turned out to be completely different. Considering that this was my first time getting to the stadium from the MCC, I can say that even though it takes about 30 minutes, taking into account all the security checks, there shouldn’t be any problems, since volunteers accompany me the whole way.

I should note that although the stadium was not filled with all 81,000 seats, about 50-60 thousand seats were occupied, which suggests that even during the World Cup matches, the time of access to the stadium and the time of leaving it is unlikely to increase to 45 minutes.

Entry and exit turned out to be quite convenient, despite the fact that it was necessary to cover considerable distances. I only had one remark: the signs are not always clear and the entrance numbers to the stadium are poorly marked. Artemy Lebedev's studio, despite implementing cool signs from a design point of view, did not fully cope with the navigation task.

What was incredibly pleasing was the competent IT used by the transport services. I received an SMS asking me to complete a simple survey.

I am sure that by collecting the necessary data, logistics around the stadium will become even more convenient.

To my surprise, I can’t say much about the match itself. The first half we fought with dignity and held the defense, Igor Akinfiev parried several sharp attacks. But in the second half, the Brazilians, contrary to the hopes of many Russian fans, did not freeze in the March cold, but rather ran like over hot coals, creating many dangerous moments, three of which were reflected in the score: 53′ Miranda, 62′ Coutinho (penalty ), 66′ by Paulinho from Willian. By the way, according to experts, it was Willian who created the picture of the Brazilian team’s game.

We divided the stadium into four sectors, each of which is divided into small blocks. There is only one exit from the corridor to each block, so the visitor will not get lost and will not look for his place in someone else’s block.

The blocks are largely numbered both on the corridor side and on the arena side. Large numbers on the arena side help employees quickly find the desired area.

Entrances to the arena building and blocks are numbered counterclockwise, that is, from left to right. In the previous navigation it was the other way around, and it confused people. Usually the second entrance is located to the right of the first, everyone is used to it. But not in Luzhniki! Most often, visitors walked from block number one straight to block eighteen, and then, cursing, returned back.

The new numbering is intuitive and makes navigation much easier.

On each route there are decision points - these are special places where a person decides where to go next. At the stadium these are entrances and staircases, forks, that is, all areas where there is a choice. Right or left? Directly? Lord, what should I do, where should I run? Careful wayfinding signs are placed at each decision point.

Navigation guides visitors from the approach to the arena to their seat in the stands, giving directions to blocks and service facilities.

The signs are made in such a way that the information on them is noticeable, but they themselves are not. The color of the signs matches the color of the walls, and the floor signs are made of metal, which is used in stadium decor.

This is not navigation, but an ode to delicacy. Signs and displays help the visitor not to get lost, but do not overload the visual space.

Navigation provides answers only to questions that are relevant at a particular point.

Here is a visitor approaching the stadium. What is he interested in? First of all, where is the entrance to the arena, where to go. Inside the arena there are already other thoughts: “How to get to your sector? Where's the toilet? Is there somewhere I can eat here?”

Navigation answers questions as they come, so signs are not overloaded with text and are easy to understand. The closer the landmark is to the decision point, the larger it is represented on the sign.

The signs are located quite high and are clearly visible in the flow of people. Signs are proportionate to the space in which they are placed. There are small signs on stairwells, and huge signs at building entrances.

In areas away from heavy traffic flows, complete stadium layouts are located. Here visitors calmly study the structure of the arena.
