Defender and captain of the Lucha-Energia youth team Timur Knyazev spoke about the past, present and future of the career of a professional football player.
Timur, tell us, at what age did you start getting involved in football and how did you develop as a football player in the initial stages?
I started getting interested in football when I was kindergarten. I liked to play with the ball and kick it in my free time. One day my father, who still supports me to this day, noticed that I was very interested in football, after which he decided to try to get me into a nursery football school"Aqualine". There, my first coach, Boris Vasilyevich Kiparenko, took me under his “wing”. After training for two years at Aqualine, I ended up at the Luch-Energia Youth Sports School at the age of six. At first, the then coach of the boys of my year, Alexander Vladislavovich Ushakhin (former head coach of the main team of Lucha-Energia, and now coach of FC SKA-Khabarovsk) did not want to take me to the team because of my weak qualities. Well, as you understand, they finally accepted me into the team (smiles). At first I went to training, trained separately from the other guys, but at one wonderful moment for me and my family one person was missing in one of the exercises, after which they hired me to replace him. After this same training, Alexander Vladislavovich came up to me and personally informed me that he agreed to take me to the team on a permanent basis.
- And how did your father react to the fact that they finally took you to Luch?
- On the positive side, of course! Oddly enough, everyone in my family is passionate about football, and my father is more than anyone.
- Were you interested in any other sports besides football?
- Yes, as a child I was able to exercise a lot: I went to basketball, freestyle wrestling, kudo and boxing. By the way, I still like to box in my free time from other things, going to the gym.
Once at Luch, how were your first days of training under Ushakhin? How did it seem to you new coach at first sight?
I probably won’t even remember now. From the first training sessions, Alexander Vladislavovich seemed to me to be a very responsible, principled and strict coach, and at the same time a fairly high-quality master of his craft. He also often tried to completely devote himself training process: took part in two-way matches, did not stand still, but trained with everyone, showing everything by example. I have one connected with him funny story: as soon as he started participating in the game with us, I hit him in the leg several times during training (laughs). A year ago, when I was already training in the youth team under his leadership, he reminded me of those moments of childhood with a smile on his face. And the team itself youth team 1997, where I studied, was very good and friendly, but at first I could not fit into it. There were scandals and showdowns with some of the guys, but after a while it all calmed down. With age, absolutely everyone began to understand that they were one family and strive to achieve one goal - to become professional football players, defending the honor of their home team and country.
- When coaching staff did the youth school see in you real prospects for football development?
- Only the coaching staff can answer this question, and after leaving the youth sports school, I ended up in the youth team at the age of sixteen. At first, as usually happens, I got used to the new environment, then came out as a substitute for the championship matches. After some time I managed to gain a foothold in the main team, but now I am a key player and captain of the youth team - that’s how it all turned out (smiles).
Was it scary when they selected the guys of your year for the youth team? As far as we know, about 80% of those involved in children's school are simply eliminated during this stage.
I was confident in myself and my abilities during the selection process. And I was sure that I would definitely get into the youth team, and I didn’t feel any fear.
- And during your formation, besides your relatives, did you receive support from anyone else?
And how! Many friends and acquaintances called me on the phone, followed me and went to matches. Also, the fans did not stand aside. I think that they are the best in Vladivostok, and I am grateful to them for everything.
Tell me, how did you manage to get the captain’s armband in the youth team and become an equal leader?
When the previously mentioned Alexander Vladislavovich Ushakhin became the head coach of the youth team, he entrusted me with the captain’s armband. This was a complete surprise for me, since, in my opinion, we do not have individual leaders in the team. We have brought together different guys who are trying to approach their favorite business with all responsibility. Each of them is a leader and part of our friendly team.
Nevertheless, many people who follow future generations of Lucha-Energia football players consider you one of the strongest players in the current youth team. But the coaching staff of the main team probably never thought so: during your career you have never been involved in the main team, unlike your “teammates”. Why do you think this happens?
I don’t know... This is a big mystery for me, because I myself am surprised by this. Apparently, this is what the club management wants.
I think that to a greater extent yes than no. The club's management includes people who are also an integral part of the working team. Everyone communicates with each other and coordinates everything.
- And yet, do you personally believe that you will someday be able to break into the “base”?
- Yes, I think everyone has a chance in this regard. I said that everyone has one goal - to become good players to football. Not only me, but all the guys, along with the coaches of the Lucha-Energia school, believe that young football players from Primorye will have a great future. Of course, it’s a shame that someone at 18-20 years old is already playing in the highest football league Russia, and some compete only at the city championship. I would like to hope that every year the attitude towards young men and children who play football in the Primorsky Territory will become better and better.
And in conclusion: if you still fail to realize your high level in football, what will you do next?
I didn't even think about it. If they kick me out of the club structure, they will make a huge mistake. Well, at least there have never been any hints in my direction of such an outcome. But if we consider all this as an option, then I think it would be a little unpleasant. Life, including football, is a thing in which everything can change in one moment. She can acquire positive and negative qualities. And even if something not very pleasant happens to my future at Lucha-Energia, I will always be grateful for what this club and its employees have done for me. Here they raise me, help me from the very beginning early years! “Luch-Energia” will always be a second home for me, no matter what.

So, the Russian championship among LFC teams of the major league of the Siberia zone started with a match in Chita between Chita-M and Novosibirsk Siberia-M. As you probably know, in the dispute between the currently few teams of the second division of the “East” zone, the leader is precisely “Chita” without the prefix “M”, where in the recent victorious match against “Irtysh” Andrei Volgin and Sergei Narylkov, whom we remember from games for Metallurg, and Alexander Yarkin was injured. (In the photo from the archive they are part of Metallurg).
So Chita's backup team added the first three points to their treasury. The game began with attacks from the hosts, who were entitled to a penalty kick already in the 13th minute. Negoda converted it - 1:0. At the end of the first half, the Chita team, through the efforts of Antsiferov, scored the second goal - 2:0. In the second half the game escalated and became tough, sometimes too much. The visitors received three more warnings in the first half in the second. And they managed to get one goal back. But the home team held on to the winning score and, in the absence of any other championship games, at least temporarily topped the standings.
However, today, May 9, “Sibir-M” will play the second game of the season in Ulan-Ude with “Buryatia”, which had a great group tournament of the Siberian Cup, beating the teams from Irkutsk. It seems to me that Buryatia will try to consolidate their cup success with a good performance at the start of the championship. Although the Novosibirsk team is unlikely to be in the mood to lose for the second time in a row.
Well, on May 12, 4 more teams will enter the fight: the matches “Yenisei-M” (Krasnoyarsk) - SDUSSHOR (Kemerovo), FC "Novokuznetsk" - "Raspadskaya" (Mezhdurechensk) will take place.
