At the end of three days, Belarus scored 188.5 points and took 10th place among 11 teams.

From the 9th line, which allows you to stay in elite division, Belarusian athletes fell behind by 8 points.

The German team won gold at the European Team Championship (321.5), Poland won silver (295), and France won bronze (270).

As part of the Belarusian national team, six athletes made it to the top three in certain events.

Anna Malyshchik won gold in the hammer throw (74.56 m), Alena Dubitskaya won the shot put (18.39 m).

Irina Zhuk(nee Yakoltsevich) took silver in the pole vault with a personal best (4.60 m). Second places were also taken Pavel Boreysha in hammer throw (77.52 m), Alina Talay in the 100 meter hurdles (12.91 s) and Tatiana Kholodovich in javelin throw (64.60 m).

Devyatovsky: I was left with a double impression

Head of the Belarusian Athletics Federation Vadim Devyatovsky shared a comment about the performance of the Belarusian team at the European Team Championship athletics in Lille - 2017.

— I was left with a double impression. Many of our athletes were very pleased and, without flinching, showed what they were capable of, and some of them even a little more than they could. It was clear that everyone fought and wanted to do their best for the team and the country. Someone had misfires... And this, of course, makes me sad.

We took 10th place and did not make it into the coveted top nine, which remains in the Super League. On the one hand, we are among the ten strongest teams in Europe, on the other hand, we were literally 8 points short of remaining in the Super League.

We will analyze everything that happened. There is a generational change in the team, and it takes time for our youth to improve in adult sports. The most important thing is that we have someone to go forward with. In any case, many thanks to all the athletes and their coaches for their dedication and work. If you don't succeed, don't give up, move forward! We promise to return! Forward, Belarus! — Vadim Devyatovsky is quoted by the official website of the BFLA.

Thanks to Devyatovsky, we have athletics at least in this form. She was very lucky with Devyatovsky. And to all of us, that this person has found himself and is in his place.

The result is certainly not encouraging, but everyone who is higher than us, with the possible exception of Greece, is much stronger than us in terms of sports. Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Portugal, Norway are not included in the athletics elite... And no one sprays “poisonous saliva”. Or let's, like the Russians, "get drunk" on doping and become "caliphs for an hour."

Olga Zemlak's finish

On Friday, June 23, the European Athletics Championships in the elite division, the Super League, start in Lille. 11 teams will compete at the Lille Metropole arena, including the Ukrainian national team ().

See the tournament schedule in this news - and here all the results of all disciplines, first of all, the results of Ukrainian athletes, will be updated online.

Format The team championship provides that one athlete (or a team in a relay) is represented from each team in each discipline. For each place taken by an athlete, points are awarded to the team standings. Number of points depends on the number of athletes in the discipline - that is, in our case, for the first place of one athlete the team receives 11 points, for the following places - one point less, that is, 10, 9 and so on.

On running distances The 100m, 200m and 400m and relay races will have qualifying competitions to select eight finalists based on the number of lanes in the stadium.

At the European Team Championships there is also an interesting rule that is not favored by all athletes. horizontal jumps and throws: There are only four attempts, and after the first three, eight finalists are determined who compete in the final attempt.

But in vertical jumps- height and with a pole - there is a limit on the number of unsuccessful attempts: only four mistakes are allowed, after the fourth the athlete stops the competition.

Following the results of the last championship, 12 teams were supposed to compete in the Super League, but... At the end of three days of the tournament, two teams are relegated to the First League, and the top three are promoted from there. If Russia's disqualification is lifted, next championship she will start from the First League.

The Ukrainian national team has never been relegated from the Super League since 2009, when the tournament was reformatted (until this year the competition was separate for the men's and women's teams, now it is a joint competition).

The most titled members of the Ukrainian national team in Lille are the medalist Olympic Games triple jump and Olympic relay medalists Olesya Povkh, Elizaveta Bryzgina And Christina Stuy, and Olga Zemlak, finishing seventh in the 2016 Rio 400m final, and twice already this season

After the end of the first race of the men's 4x100 m relay, which the Ukrainian team won thanks to a breakthrough Sergei Smelik on final stage, our team's result was annulled. The reason for this decision was one of our team’s athletes leaving the corridor when passing the baton. However, after the end of the competition day, our team received the result back, and at the same time 8 points in the overall standings.

Thus, the Ukrainian team was in 7th position before the final competition day.
