"Season in Russian football further worsened the image of the country – the host of the 2018 World Cup. None of the Russian clubs made it to the quarterfinals of the European Cups. Three clubs were punished for non-compliance with financial fair play rules. Only 11,384 spectators attend matches on average. In Yaroslavl, Spartak fans showed swastikas, in Moscow they hooted at Yaya Toure, and Zenit fans completely disrupted last game. Violence at football is the biggest problem. But it doesn’t look like anyone is looking into it.”

"Svenskafans.com" (Sweden)

“Zenith’s punishment for non-compliance with financial fair play rules raises questions about the future of the club. To continue living on wide leg, Zenit needs to earn money on its own, without the help of influential owners. The most a big problem– very low TV contract amounts. And it turns out: to maintain ambitions big club"Zenith has only one thing left to do - regularly get into the Champions League and earn as much as possible there."

“The leader of the Russian team at the World Cup will be Dzagoev. This is not a typical Russian introvert. Throughout his career he has struggled with his not-too-mature character. If it weren’t for this extroverted character, Dzagoev would have long ago played in a top European club.”

Forbes (USA)

“The Washington Capitals’ offseason couldn’t be worse. The team was left without a general manager and without a coach. And now without Ovechkin? Missing the Stanley Cup cost the club, according to experts, $2 million per game. But losing Ovechkin to injury could be even more painful.”

“Maria Sharapova is unbeatable on clay. For three years she did not lose to anyone other than Serena Williams on this surface. And then Ana Ivanovic beat the clay champion in Rome. The match is worth re-watching for all tennis players whose name is not Serena and who are going to compete for victory at Roland Garros. Only the defeat by Ivanovic may be a real blessing for Sharapova - she will have a good rest before Paris.”

It won't be long until the World Championships in Russia.

But people somehow lost interest in football. It's time to raise interest among the masses.

Phrases about a “non-football” and “non-sports” country from the mouths of leading coaches and players will hardly achieve this.

But through humor - that’s it. Ideally, one that would appeal to ordinary housewives. To “mock” our athletes, but within reason, otherwise you can achieve the opposite effect: to make people completely disgusted with sports.

Recently, the stand-up show “Money. Sex. Radiculitis” appeared on the “Che” channel. The gist is this: middle-aged men gather in a bar to discuss ordinary problems: fools, roads, education, sex, money, politics...

And, of course, sports. Responsible for this area in the program Roman Vagin- famous journalist and radio host.

- You can say that it turned out not just a humorous show, but a kind of social project, right?- question to Vagina.

Stand-up is popular, but for the audience “35+” and above there are not very many author’s monologues. Therefore, we decided to make a program where I occupy a segment of stories about sports. The first season is currently underway, the second will be filmed in October-November.

I don't know about the social mission. For me, the main thing is that in each of the monologues there are moments that can hook the viewer: laugh or think.

- The audience on such programs is diverse. Do you feel like people are generally attracted to sports themes?

There are many options for speeches, but I refuse some, precisely because the monologues turn out to be unsuccessful in advance, because they are crammed in football terms. Nobody needs narrow specialization. Need more household items. For example, the sketch: " Olympic Games in the family." Who is better at knocking out the rug, hammering nails, taking out the trash... This format is more in demand among the audience than talking about the “double ve” scheme.

- You come first sports journalist. How did you get involved in such a project?

For me, as a journalist and commentator, this is truly a new page in my biography. Experiment. I like it. I am grateful to the guys from the TV channel who gave me this opportunity.

I’ve been hosting a radio program for several years, and the producers football fans, and offered to meet. Because they understand: we need to talk about our sport with humor. There were ideas to create football shows, but they were not implemented. There was also a program "100 best goals in the history of world football", where I acted as a screenwriter. And then everything smoothly flowed into stand-up.

You have a solid company there: “Krasnaya Burda”, “Ural dumplings”, Victor Loginov, Nikolai Bandurin. Do they have a great sense of humor on set?

In order for the product to be of high quality, it is impossible without this. Filming took place at the end of July. We worked in two shifts, and in this regard it was rather difficult. But the company was warm, so, I hope, the fatigue is not visible in the picture.

I'm almost the youngest there. The comedians really gathered, let's say, deserved ones. And this suggests that there is a demand for such performances. This format has a great future.

I watched your performances. "Mordovia" - Ufa "is the same as a rubber woman and non-alcoholic beer" - isn't it too harsh a comparison?

I do not think so. Recently Leonid Slutsky called Russia a non-football country. So I agree with him. And I agree with Vasily Berezutsky, who called us a generally unsportsmanlike country.

- Aren’t you afraid that if you joke about this topic, it will only get worse?

We probably shouldn't worry about this. And those who are responsible for the development of sports. In the meantime, the situation is as it is today, why not make people laugh? Take the recent Euro. The whole country was discussing the team's failure. And jokes on this topic were well received.
