Tomorrow, April 1, the 10th anniversary festival of extreme sports “Breakthrough” will take place at the Moscow Olympic sports complex. The show will include performances by Russian motocross and enduro pilots. Who will have a more difficult time, cross-sport athletes or endurists? Here are the first comments from David Leonov, Ilya Malikov, Artem Nazarov, Kirill Gavrilov after the first days of training.
MOTOGONKI.RU, April 1, 2017 -

David Leonov (enduro):“The track is quite dynamic, there are fast places, and there are also slow ones, for example, wheels and logs. The main difficulty on the logs is not to make mistakes, because there are a lot of people in the race, and if you make a mistake, you can really get into trouble. What’s missing, of course, is ground... concrete is still very slippery!

Starting position doesn't really matter. There will be two heats of 5 minutes each, in the first they will be ranked according to qualifications, and in the second everything will change a lot... Those who stood in the front row will stand behind, it’s like in SEWC - in the second heat the leaders are placed second row.

Unfortunately, at Proryv, the endurists are much inferior to the cross-sport riders in terms of speed, even with some mistakes on the logs! Why? All elements require speed, and endurists pass all complex elements more calmly. Yes, there is a place where crossmen have difficulty passing, these are logs... endurists pass there more consistently, but I think this is not enough to fight.”

Ilya Malikov (enduro):"The stones seem difficult to the elements. In the first case they are on a turn, in the second they are on the rise. But in reality, when correct position bodies, it’s not difficult to walk through.

The inscription "BREAKTHROUGH".... Everyone has been lying on it, from endurists to famous cross-country racers.

Otherwise, the route is covered on average in a minute and the race is given 5 minutes. But this is a very long and difficult 5 minutes. There are places for overtaking. It’s more difficult to overtake roundabouts - their trajectory changes unpredictably.”

Artem Nazarov (motocross):“The track is very difficult, it was very difficult to drive for the first time after A, but every day we get used to it and improve the result!”

Kirill Gavrilov (motocross):“The track this year is much more difficult than last year. They made two obstacles out of stones, on one of them I was injured, no fracture, just a very bad bruise... They also added an element made of logs... words can’t describe it, but there was no a person who would drive them every lap. Everyone fell on these logs... Everything else is according to the standard. There is a “pyramid” when you need to ride on huge tires. Basically the track consists of elements a and reminds me of the winter Ramenskoye, I was driving on “five”, and therefore the “winter” mode turned on in my head, I drove slowly, all the turns are easy to drift, there are straight lines where you can open the gas, the starting car is like in a cross-country race, only we start not from the ground, but from plywood. "In order to drive well, you need to heat up the tires, I learned this in the USA at a training camp with Sergei Astaikin. All the endurists who participate here go very fast, but only 1 lap, then we, the “crossmen,” catch up."
