The Khatanga Fish kayak has been produced for more than a year now. Inflatable kayak "Khatanga Fish"

The idea of ​​buying an inflatable kayak has been brewing for a long time, since my friend has been using such vessels for a long time, but more for traveling than for fishing. My priority is fishing, which means there must be specialization.

I specially took a couple of days from work as vacation time to attend the annual fishing exhibition at VDNKh. Apparently, fate had been building a chain of coincidences for a long time so that I would end up at the Stream company stand and see what captivated me. It was an inflatable kayak "Khatanga Fish". Its belonging to fishing vessels was clear without clues: glasses for fishing rods and a hard floor (payol).

As we talked with the company representative, a positive impression was formed, and the decision came: we must take it. The kayak was packed in a backpack bag, which I will replace in the future, since I think that the “skin” and the pads should be carried in different bags, but this is mine Subjective opinion. Both in the subway and then on the train we made our first trip together.

Assembled

I had enough patience for a couple of days, and without waiting for it to get warm outside, I assembled the kayak after work at the office. Assembly with breaks did not take about 40 minutes, and later I could finish it in 20. I must say that you need to get used to some aspects of assembly. A couple of times I forgot to install the seat when assembling the frame and had to assemble everything all over again. After a while, I found an excellent video on the Internet on assembling a kayak. Unfortunately, at that time it was no longer relevant.

Having meticulously examined the entire structure, I made sure that everything was assembled to my satisfaction. I was especially pleased with the inflatable seat and footrest. As I later discovered, they really provide a comfortable stay in a kayak for a long time. Glasses for spinning rods, and there are 5 of them, solve problems with the placement of spinning rods and landing nets. Personal items and fishing gear located in the bow and stern. And then I took a deep breath - I got what I needed! All that was left was to wait for the open water season, and there were three long months left before it...

The first trip was made on the May holidays; for acquaintance and “grinding in,” a narrow river was chosen, but it had reaches, where fishing was supposed to be done. The goal was not to catch spawn, but I wanted to practice and get comfortable in the kayak’s cockpit, which was accomplished with success.

The “Khatanga Fish” has an easy ride, and the rafting with the current, and then against it, went without any comments. Stability is good. It was with apprehension that I climbed up full height– there are no problems, we need to learn to keep balance and, most importantly, not be afraid, since fear is not best helper while traveling. But just in case, all my things are packed in hermetic bags and everything that could fall overboard is securely fastened with the help of cages with carabiners.

Firstly, the kayak was taken for fishing: casting and landing fish from the side was no problem, everything was convenient and comfortable. Secondly, the rafting, the drifts and the passage of rapids - everything went very well. Thick fabric with a density of 850 g/m is practically indestructible, even if you rub against stones, and this is thanks to the inflatable structure, and where the aluminum frame is installed, foam was laid. But she is not able to fight the “technological” thing. On one of the rapids there was a collision between the bottom and the fittings of a haymower! Where it came from is unknown. It was unpleasant, but the repair did not take much time, and such problems did not arise in the future.

We walked from 20 to 25 km a day, and we caught fish both on the “track” and by casting. Not only pike was caught, but also other fish, which pleased with their candles and demonstrated their strength! You can only get into such wilds on an airboat, a boat with a water cannon, or on a kayak like this, and this is a financially incomparable expense. And the dynamics of such expeditions give a lot of unforgettable impressions.
